Re: 1998 Saturn SL2 won't start when parked on driveway incline

In your post, #23, the crank sensor was replaced. The main role of crank sensors is generating the timing signals the pcm needs to operate otherwise the pcm is just a door stop. The crank sensor...

Re: Buzzing noise in throttle body

1-Recharge the battery overnight so there's a fully charged battery to power up electronics in the car. Without a fully charged battery, the EFI system cannot work - a discharged/dead battery trying...

Re: Oil Choices for the Honda V6 - & Filters

0w20 QS is more than adequate for getting thru any midwest sub zero weather in early morning startups. While I can't swear by your weather starting issues in your neck of the woods using syn oil, I...

Re: Oil change indicator

rfisher, as pointed out by floridasl22002, European oil changes are at much higher mileage. I've noticed that over the years and decided long ago to adopt a personal change of oil in my L300. As...

Re: Oil change indicator

What will never be revealed with definitive facts restricts whether or not syn oil prolongs and is more effective than regular oil. The only reason syn vs regular will never be definitive is one fact...

Re: 2001 Saturn Auto Transmission Filter - How tight is too tight?

Unfortunately, many members never update their threads with a followup so everyone is left wondering about the outcome. The OP ErikTande hasn't responded in over three years about his dilemma.

One...

Re: Can I use 13in rims on my 2000 sl1

I'm curious. Can 13" rims fit and clear rear drum brakes and front disc calipers? This and the specific 4x100 bolt pattern may be the restrictions to putting on anything not configured for the...

Re: 2000 L 5 spd clutch issue

If you mean replacing the clutch now then yes. Clutches wear out sooner or later with little references to go by. A rough idea might be city driving with more shifts wearing out clutches sooner while...

Re: Oil change indicator

When driving to and from work (round trip of 20 miles), my average OCI was around 5600 miles. Retired and driving less, my last OCI was around 4k miles.

Re: Car will crank but not start

The fuel pump runs for 2-3 seconds when ignition is turned on then shuts off if the engine isn't started. Safety. There's no need to run a fuel pump if the engine isn't started and you'd have to have...

I share your dilemma as my brakes completely failed on a local lunch run several months ago. My L300 has been in NYC for all its life and the wonderful salting every winter seemed to attack the brake...

Re: RPM jumps up and down when starting

800 rpm is about right and indicates an unmolested throttle stop screw. The idle air control valve (IACV) in the throttle body is commanded by the pcm to control all idle speeds. It may be sticking....

Re: RPM jumps up and down when starting

DJCharlie, what's normal idle rpm after the engine warms up? Did anyone meddle with the (factory adjusted) throttle stop screw? An exhaust leak doesn't affect idle rpm in the way you described...

Re: Please help need to identify a part

This was my repair. I couldn't find Saturn replacements a few years ago. The nylon vacuum lines are hard and crack if handled. Nylon lines are heated during factory assembly to make them pliable...

Re: How to tell if aura has Remote start(without fob)

I think you're confusing aftermarket remote start systems with factory remote start. If I'm not mistaken, factory remote start is embedded in either the engine or body control module as programmed...

Re: 1998 Saturn SL2 won't start when parked on driveway incline

Saturn EFI systems relies on approximately 40 psi of fuel pressure using small diameter fuel lines, pressure regulator and fuel check valve. On one side of this pressurized fuel line are the...

Re: 1998 Saturn SL2 won't start when parked on driveway incline

1-Try disconnecting the engine coolant sensor or have your dad or mechanic do it. If the connector terminals are corroded, this interferes with low voltage signals sent to the pcm. The majority of...

Re: 2004 Saturn L300 will not fire

Ok, ground is electronically switched from the ecm when commanding the relay to energize, close contacts 30 and 87 to send power to the fuel pump. I never remember which terminal 85 or 86 has 12v...
