Re: Getting back in a Saturn - 95 SL2 M/T

Sometimes the nut gets a tad loose and lets the wiper arm slide around, if the wiper's look like they move too far to the driver side then I'd let them park remove the nut and reset their location to...

Re: Adding LED lights?

18-14 awg wire would be fine for nearly any average cost automotive light. I'd go with 16g wire for off-road style lights as long as it's a quality wire that measures the gauge of the copper wire and...

Re: Engine swap

If you never go above about 75% throttle it'll be fine, otherwise the SOHC PCM's idea of full throttle fueling will go lean on the DOHC and burn up valves.
Depending on year swapping the PCM is a...

Re: Do rear brakes engage in park on abs vehicle?

I believe the startup test you're describing is only a bulb check, not an actual ABS check. The actual ABS check comes at 5mph.

You can either blindly test things such as the wheel speed sensor...

Middle terminal is the trigger one? What kind of relay are you using?

Standard relay layout attached.
85 Trigger + (low amp fused battery power)
86 Trigger - (ground switched source ie: high...

Re: 98 to 99 swap

If they both are automatic and the same DOHC or SOHC transmission than it should be a direct no-issue swap. Going from MP7 to MP6 or MP6 to MP7 won't work at all; going from auto->manual requires a...

Re: Evap Purge valve solenoid

Might be easier to access with the starter out, but taking that out is quite annoying by itself.

Re: getting a duplicate key made for 2001 Saturn SC2

Had a VIN cut key at my local Chevy dealer for $5, to a '96 SC2. Not sure if it was so cheap because my dad was also replacing his keys (same era GM but required a different key for the ignition,...

Re: Help buying another SL (by monday) :P

ABS was an option on every model, except possibly SL, '91-'02. Rear disc was an option '91-'97, probably standard w/ABS on SC/SC2/SL2 for those years. SOHC's & SW2's got rear drums and starting in...

Re: I broke my windshield!!! :( Need advice

I've yet to pay more than $250 for any windshield. They've all been $200-$250 (okay...the Subaru one with wiper heater would have been $280 but the heater is why the old one broke so I opted for a...

Re: Headlight seap and front fender question.

If you use 3rd gen SC headlights, you kinda rather need to use a 3rd gen SC hood too. They have that silly/stupid raised eyebrow thing going on, pretty sure it interferes with the 2nd gen hood at...

Re: Exploded donut spare wiki

I hacked off the power outlet adapter on my 12v inflaitor to give it battery clamps like jumper cables use. Probably would be smart to add a fuse to the power line, but it works fine as-is.

Re: not sure what button on dash near steering wheel is for

Yep, fog lights. Bulb style 880.

All (well, most anyway) your bulb lookup needs: https://www.sylvania-automotive.com/apps/vlrg-us/Vlrg/#

Probably the cheapest reliable bulb (I've bought a ton...

Re: not sure what button on dash near steering wheel is for

Guessing fog lights, but knowing the year of your SC2 would help narrow things down.

Re: Timing Cover

Quick-fix #1: Clean out the hole, coat the stud with JB-Weld (or industrial equivalent/upgrade) and shove it in there. Don't expect to use it for at least 24hrs while the JB Weld fully cures.

Re: Lower Control Arms

You're replacing the control arm anyway so make life easy and lop off the bit that isn't part of the rounded bit inside the frame. Gives you much more working room to see what's going on and get...

Re: Cps

You'd still have to at least remove one bolt from the lower engine dog-bone as the dog-bones are designed to prevent exactly what you want it to do :)

Re: RIGHT side tail lights work but not when brakes applied

I always thought they were 1157's, but I guess the brighter 2057's actually are stock. Meh, swap to LED's or 3057's and get even brighter :)

Maybe the 1157's were 1st gen and 2057 are 2nd and 3rd?...

Re: RIGHT side tail lights work but not when brakes applied

What happens if you swap the bulbs left->right? If the problem stays with the side then it's a wiring/connector issue otherwise the bulb is blown.

Re: Anti drain back valve test failed on wix filters

But...that's exactly how '05-'13 Taco's put the filter. Rather dumb, but if Toyota does it it can't be all bad...lol
