Re: Saturn Astra makes U.S. debut in fall 2007

I just hope that if they do import the car it will not have the build quality of previous Opels that were imported into the US from Europe.

Saturn has a reputation for build quality that stands...

Re: 2.4 acceleration numbers

Solstice times should be close.

RWD advantage with regard to acceleration is less tire spin (due to weight transfer to the driving wheels). FWD tends to actually deliver more power to the...

Happy Re: One year with 2.4L

I have similar miles (14,700) on my '06 ION 3 QC 2.4 and have similar experiences.

Ditto on the mileage currently, but only recently. Up until I had approx. 10,000 miles on the car, I was getting...

Re: No more Appearance Package..sign of the times?

Sometimes availability (or, lack thereof) of options on a particular model can make or break it's popularity. IMO Saturn missed the mark on the RL model by limiting color choices and options plus...

Re: Lookin' at an '07

Leaving the line off-idle (not winding it up and dumping the clutch!) the following is what the difference feels like to me between the three

0-30, All three very similar.
30-50 Redline would...

Re: Ion 3 2007 2.4

Yeah, problems with a new car are a real bummer. Give it time, though, before writing off the car as a "bad one".

My last car was that I bought brand new was a Camaro that had the wire to the...

Re: Lookin' at an '07

Actually, I did drive all three and all three seem similar in city-type driving.

The only place where the acceleration difference is really that noticable to me is freeway-type merging and...

Question 2006 ION Production numbers?

Does anyone know where to find production information for the 2006 IONS? I don't know if Saturn releases information on production numbers by model, color, options, etc. to the public (and, if they...

Re: 2.2 Vs 2.4l

I own a QC 2.4 with a 5-speed and regularly drive a company car which is a Cobalt 2.2 automatic (same Ecotec as the Saturn).

As far as performance, up to about 25 or 30 mph, both are equally...

Re: Xm Radio

I have both XM and Sirius. I've had Sirius for over a year now (pre-dates my Saturn) and got the XM because of the attractive pricing of the sun/sound package option that included the Saturn...

Post Re: it doesnt say 2.4 on the back of my car..

Actually, you have to take off the black engine cover (take off the oil fill cap and pull up. The back left corner requires a lttle bit of a tug). Then you should definitely clearly see "VVT 2.4"...

Mad Re: ION Fuel Economy?

I must have a factory dud! My mileage (mostly city) has been averaging 25 mpg (2.4 QC3 manual). On the last tank I got a solid 28 mpg 50/50 mixed city/highway. I now have a little less than 3,000...

Re: 4 visits to the dealership, and it still squeeks and rattles

It's at least good that you found the source for your door creaks. Now, GM better ante up for the replacement of the cracked panel(s) since it was their workmanship that caused the problem.

Post Re: Before and after Eibachs

I still have the stock rims/tires that the car came with (the 16" 5-spoke alloys) and they are still as new. Actually, I was planning on using the stock rims with Winterfire snow tires for...

Re: Should I trade my 2006 manual Ion in for a automatic

I don't know how much snow Kansas City gets, but another plus for the manual is driving in the snow. On particularly slippery surfaces, you can start in second gear for better traction. Also, going...

Cool Before and after Eibachs

Okay, the new rims help out too, but lowering springs made a huge difference in the appearance! Definitely a good mod choice. No difference in ride, but over big bumps the reduced travel is...

Post Re: 2.4 auto with noticeable lag

If your car is equipped with traction control you must turn it off if you want a quick launch. At the slightest hint of front wheelspin the traction control cuts power and that's probably the...

Re: 2007 Deletion: RECARO seats on ION Red Line.

Actually, I may have chosen a RL if the leather seating was available. Since it wasn't I went for a QC3 with the 2.4/5-speed.

Post Re: Replacement for the ION?

I like the little station wagon idea but I think there is more room in the market for a cool 3-door version (2 side doors and the rear liftgate) like the VW GTI which is nice but way pricey,...

Out of curiosity, was your car in dealer stock or did you order?

Post Re: My new white QC3 SAP, pics and impressions

Before going to the dealer I went to Saturn's website, did a "Build Your Own" and printed it. I took it to the dealer and told them that I wanted something as similar to this as you can get me. The...
