I also tapped into the main lead to the fuse box. Side post batteries make adding aftermarket accessories kinda annoying. Even added my own little fuse box on the strut tower.

Have a feeling the voltage regulator went bad on the old alternator and overcharged the battery to death. I thought 14.8-15.1 volts...
