Odometer still not working after cluster replacement

Hey guys,

The title of this thread says it all. Last week my odometer stopped working, so I did a little research and reading on here, and today I replaced the cluster.

The gears were...

Re: RPM's drop occasionally upon starting

Yeah, that is very similar to what happens with my '93 SL2 from time to time. Mine has yet to throw any code, but the RPMs do drop to around that range, and although it has yet to die out if it was...

Re: RPM's drop occasionally upon starting

That sounds normal to me. I can't say for certain, as I have a '93 and a '95, and there are a lot of guys on here that know way better than I.. But typically, temp gauges don't seem to go to the...

Re: Flickering lights

Thank you very much for explaining that. Coincidentally, as I said in my previous post to Aaron95Sl2 my car wound up dying last night while I was at work but there haven't been any issues (neither...

Re: Flickering lights

Ah, I was hoping to hear from someone who had the same problem! Thank you very much for your excellent suggestion and input. It sounds like we had the exact same problem and that would be great if...

Re: Cold Air Intake

Excellent. That's all I needed to hear! Intakes for both cars it is (when money isn't so tight). :D

Re: Flickering lights

Thank you very much for your input! I had a very strong suspicion that it might be the alternator. Come to think of it, my buddy definitely replaced the alternator in his Caddy that was having the...

Flickering lights

I've noticed recently that the instrument panel lights and all of my interior lights in my '95 will flicker for a few minutes after starting. They never go off completely, but it's definitely a...

Re: Cold Air Intake

Hahaha. Nice sarcasm! I did, man.. As soon as I figured out the IAT being unplugged was causing it to throw the code. Believe me, I am not one to let something like that go. Then factor...

Re: Cold Air Intake

Oh, I will definitely get one that allows for a hole for the IAT. As long as it's got that there shouldn't be any problem? My '95 was throwing the "Service Engine Soon" code last week because the...

Re: Cold Air Intake

Jake-SL2 and SaturnSL293 - Thanks guys! The more I hear, the more it sounds like sucking up water isn't as much of a concern as I initially thought it was. At any rate, I may look into a bypass...

Re: RPM's drop occasionally upon starting

I apologize for the delay, I haven't been on the computer much lately. But to answer your question, once the engine is up to temp the temp gauge and idle is right around where you said it should be....

Re: RPM's drop occasionally upon starting

Thanks for your input! Not since my last tune up, I haven't. I may have to look into the fuel filter, although I still have a ways to go until my next tune up so that seems a bit unlikely. As for...

RPM's drop occasionally upon starting

I've noticed that sometimes when starting my '93 the RPM's will drop below 1,000 to the point where it feels like it's going to stall out. Would the starter or alternator cause such a problem, or am...

Re: Cold Air Intake

Ah, that's what my friend is planning on doing with his Cutlass Ciera SL! He didn't specify it as a warm air intake, just said he would be making a custom one himself.

Re: Cold Air Intake

Well I'm glad you told me that since both of mine are automatic. I know that people definitely make it work, as I've seen a CAI on many S-Series.. But you make a very good point that it may be more...

Ah, okay! I've noticed those differences before when seeing after market intakes, but I just didn't know why or that they were different kinds of intakes. Thank you very much for explaining it, I...

Well thank you again very much for your input and advice! As I said, I really don't know much about intakes so I'll have to look into it a bit more to make the right decision. I have noticed,...

Cold Air Intake

I have a '93 and a '95 SL2 and have been considering putting cold air intakes in them for quite sometime now as a modification. Now I work on cars quite a bit with my buddies but am by no means a...

Re: fog lights

There's a place called Saturn Auto Salvage out of Kansas that is a junkyard which specializes in Saturns. I've gotten a bunch of parts from them in the past, including fog lights for my '95 SL2...

Re: Clicking while braking

madpogue,

Thank you for explaining that to me, I had no idea that was how it worked. That definitely sounds like that could be the culprit.

PIYIRIO,

Will do, I will check that. I haven't...

I suppose there's a chance it could be, but wouldn't the...
