Re: Smug pump - Saturn SL2 2001

^ ^ ^ agreed, finding someone local to show you things is best, if you are not comfortable with DIY

But its not hard to get started on your own, if you have a place to work. Can you turn a...

Re: 1998 Saturn SL2 won't start when parked on driveway incline

No worries, I do the same. I follow several car forums and occasionally think of the wrong car at times, too :D

(I was about to apologize to you about assuming the parts were installed, as I...

Re: Lower left sub frame rust

Probably the same way I would have gone under the same circumstances - "good enough for now, fix it properly later" :)

You may want to check around here for some suggestions on rustproofing the...

Re: Battery Dead. Jumped car and it died while driving

Hurray, happy ending! :D

I was reading this thread and the suspense was getting to me.

Good for you -why throw a way a perfectly good car?

Most people are stupid (or at least, financially...

Re: 1998 Saturn SL2 won't start when parked on driveway incline

yeah, I didn't think it was a battery or charging /alternator issue, either, just does not sound like it.

Thought maybe something the shop was doing when they charged it - jostled a wire or...

Re: 1998 Saturn SL2 won't start when parked on driveway incline

PCM = Power Control Module = car's computer. In your year, is a small silver box kind of behind the instrument panel. If you take off the top of the dash, you can see it

MAP or TP sensors, or...

Re: 1999 sl2 cluster lights/radio light??

Welcome to saturnfans, and keep an eye on your oil level :)
(check oil at least once every gas fillup, the first few fillups)

It sounds like

your odometer works,
instrument panel...

Re: Windshield wiper arm cap.......I need one!

Neat find! Not that those were super-expensive, but occasionally when a Porsche part is called for, you can also find a VW part that fits, is cheaper, and occasionally is better. :)

Example is...

Re: 1998 Saturn SL2 won't start when parked on driveway incline

That's weird. I don't see anything that would cause it to fail but did notice something about it starting again:

Not sure where to go with this, since you didn't mention the battery...

Re: new to the saturn game

Take a read of the sticky thread - keep a real close eye on the oil level at first (check at every gas fill up) and refill before it gets down below a couple of diamonds. I add about 6~9 oz a week. ...

Re: 1998 Saturn SL2 won't start when parked on driveway incline

I should have read the entire thread before posting. Wet plugs indicate fuel, and the link shows fuel filter replaced about 5 years ago

I'd still want to know the brand/make of the fuel filter,...

Re: 1998 Saturn SL2 won't start when parked on driveway incline

If it backfired with starting fluid, you most likely have spark - I would double check on the fuel pressure - should be seeing 45-51 PSI

Do you know how many miles since the fuel filter was last...

Re: Factory remote start in SL2's?

Yep. All factory options listed here, courtesy of Low Saturn

Re: Proud new member of a near mint 1999 Homecoming Edition

Neat!

Always great to see an original owner, too. Your wife counts because she bought it off the lot, even though it went to someone else for a while - the car made its own "homecoming" and is...

Re: S-Series Mileage Milestones 100k 150k 200k 250k and beyond

That in itself if impressive - only 2,500 miles a year!

I went over 150k miles on the SC2 a couple of days ago. I usually keep the odometer on trip mileage so I missed the event. Engine feels...

Total luck of the draw, IMO. I've seen stories where the poster claims they've never spun the wheels or launched hard, were just cruising along the highway, and the diff pin decides to abandon ship....

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...
