Re: S series a/c cluch?

It depends on how tight it is, most will pull off by hand and that pressure doesn't impact seal integrity.

Re: Front bumper emblem

You should be able to get to the back by reaching in through the lower opening. From underneath will be a pain as ther is a shield betwen the back of the bumper cover and the radiator that is in the...

Re: Head gasket leak

That leak was at the oil feed to the cam at last pix. This is a common failure point. The force applied by the head bolts is a bit low so as to not distort or crush the head. The red arrow is likely...

Depending on your arm length you can reach it without disassembly.

Re: S series a/c cluch?

If you have the tools and the ability you can drill a standard non hardened metric bolt and tap it for the pusher bolt. The rest of the puller-pusher is easy to fake. Some few kits have the proper...

Re: S series a/c cluch?

The coil connector has to fit the compressor. The various model numbers relate to the compressor heads configuration. The high pressure head in the R-134a period relate to the connector location and...

Re: S series a/c cluch?

No, the diode used for this application has a fairly significant resistance when forward biased and almost infinite resistance when reverse biased. If you would have cranked up the ohmmeter range a...

Re: New to Saturn

The basic requirements are a good set of manifold gauges, HF will be OK. The lowest cost Harbor Freight vacuum pump. Metric and imperial tubing wrenches(HF sells sets of each or Amazon). Little...

Re: New to Saturn

Yes, do your own work and you know it is either done right or who fouled it up so even in that event it will be easier to fix.

Re: S series a/c cluch?

An open diode failure is rather common. The fuse in the clutch coil or open coil is a very common system failure but neither is really rare. Generally an open diode is the result of age more than...

Re: S series a/c cluch?

If anyone has fiddled with A/C and it previously worked the diode could be in backwards or has shorted or opened as either will blow the fuse with the clutch connected. An ohmmeter on the lowest...

Re: S series a/c cluch?

Disconnect the clutch and pull the diode, be sure to note the orientation. Repeat the fuse test.

Re: A/C Schrader valve leak

Yes, sounds like many of the seals in that car are shot. The actual schrader valve is incapable of containing r-134a as the gas molecule is just too small. That is why the cap is a primary boundary.

Re: A/C Schrader valve leak

Are you sure it is only leaking at the cap? Some of these 134a fittings are actually threaded onto another fitting and that is also o-ring sealed.

Re: 98 SC2 project. Drive for now, maybe rebuild later.

Those old coils are not passing the eyeball test so you probably found the problem.

Re: A/C Schrader valve leak

There is likely to be a shallow cavity in the top of the cap, the o-ring should be a real close drop-in fit into that recess and then it will seal on the top periphery of the charging port.

Re: A/C Schrader valve leak

Slight addition, do not crush the o-ring, light contact will provide the proper seal.

Re: A/C Schrader valve leak

The parts store will sell you a set of R-134a caps that have the proper built in o-ring or if you have a fist full of the green HNBR o-rings pick the correct size a screw it on but lube with mineral...

Re: Sourcing caliper bracket bolts?

Look on the head of the bolts on the other side for no marking, 8.8, 9.8, 10.9 and then go to a big ACE hardware store and buy 2 of the correct diameter, thread pitch and length. Those bolts are...

Re: Is it possible to modify my 02 SL2 to open/ close windows w/o key in ignition?

Because the motor fries at 30A. The 30a fuse is toprotect the upstream source of power, you want to protect the motor from inadvertent stuck switch.

Re: Is it possible to modify my 02 SL2 to open/ close windows w/o key in ignition?

Go buy a 20 or 25 amp fuse, it will be much cheaper in the long run.

Re: 99 SL1 Bad Cylinder,Injector disconnected, what else d

There are several good reasons to actually do nothing. First off this is a hard engine to actually bend a valve and if is only burnt to the point there is minimal compression then leave it alone as...

How do you know there is a bent valve?
