Re: Lucas Power Steering Stops Leaks

There's nothing in the world you're going to pour out of a bottle to fix a mechanical problem. Stop wasting your money on that crap. You need to replace the rack which you can do in an afternoon with...

Parting Out 1997 SL2

I tried to put up an ad in the classifieds but it didn't work....

I'm currently parting out this complete 1997 SL2. The rear subframe is rotted right out of the car, it's no longer safe for the...

Selling the Remains of an '01 SL2

Hey guys I had a 2001 SL2 that was totalled in an accident...I found another car with a blown motor and swapped the drivetrain into it. I stripped out the wreck before I sent it to the scrapyard and...

Re: AC Compressor Help

I have a good compressor I recently removed from a wrecked 2001 SL2. The car still ran so I was able to test it and the a/c was ice cold. It's complete, functional, and ready to go. Email me if...

Re: I *think* I can do this..even as inept as I am with tools

Even though I was just a technician at the Saturn dealership and you seem to have a very low opinion of them, I'm gonna help you out. The issue you have isn't with the plastic covers around the...

Re: Radiator Fan Not Turning On

If the outside temperature is below 40 degrees the a/c won't operate, thus the fan won't come on. Before you go hacking up your cooling system like others have done, take a candy thermometer, put it...

Re: Power steering or Brake fluid?

OldNuc you're absolutely wrong. Brake fluid flushes weren't dreamed up by Jiffy Lube or some guy trying to sell an unnecessary service. That recommendation has been coming from manufacturers like...

Re: SC1 Intake Manifold Gasket Replacement

No need to remove the pump at all, or the high pressure line from it. Take the bolts out of its mount and pull the pump straight up and out of the way. All you have to take out is the mounting bolts.

Re: Rear door sills

Definitely DO NOT fill the cavity with foam. It'll rot out twice as fast. That foam HOLDS the water in, it doesn't repel it. Terrible suggestion.

Re: 1997 SL2 died, minimal warning

I vote for seized engine. There's a reason why the oil light is RED. Driving the car for a minute with the BRIGHT RED oil light on in your face is a minute too long. This will be an expensive lesson.

Re: Parting out '01 SL2 Syracuse, NY

Any vehicle with rubber fuel lines can be prone to this problem if it isn't maintained properly. Fuel lines get old and brittle and need to be changed out periodically, much more so with Ethanol in...

Parting out '01 SL2 Syracuse, NY

I have an '01 SL2 that met an untimely demise when it bounced off of a tree. For obvious reasons I'm parting it out. I could fix it but I picked up a 00 SL2 with a blown motor cheap so I'm just gonna...

Re: Spindle "stretch"/wear? Any insights?

My guess is the shop is using a ****ty bearing. Most shops use the cheapest part available to increase the likelihood of you paying for the job. If they do it right, there is absolutely no reason...

Re: Exhaust leak - how important to fix?

In the time it took you to create this post and ask your question you could have replaced the gasket and been done with it already.

Re: Intake Manifold 2001 SL2

But of course there's no reason to remove the throttle body so the gasket won't be an issue.

I agree, the carsaturn repair is the only way to go. You don't have to wait to order it, go right to...

Re: Intake Manifold 2001 SL2

So back to the original question, yes the carsaturn part is the way to go. I just did this repair a couple of weeks ago with their kit on an '01 SL2 I picked up. The part is a perfect fit, it's easy...

Re: Oil in coolant reservoir

There is absolutely no similarity between a stop leak in the cooling system and oil in the reservoir. They look TOTALLY different. If you pop the cap off the reservoir and it looks like a chocolate...

Re: Sw2 spits and sputter with a p0420

The P0420 is telling you the cat is bad. You should have replaced it the first time you got the code. Clearing the code doesn't make the problem go away. Replace the cat.

Re: oil in my coolant resivore

Based on the assumption that you have a SOHC motor, and of course it's only an assumption because you didn't provide any information as to what you're working on, you have a cracked head. Very common...

Re: Salt free ?

Not all of NY state uses salt on their roads. Most of the North Country (Tug Hill, Oswego County areas) use sand on the roads and not salt. You shouldn't have to go very far to find a good one. I...
