Re: P0731 and No Forward
Tested this morning with ECTS & IAT at 39F:
Park 70 psi
Reverse 230 psi
Drive 155 psi
The test was repeated three times waiting more than an hour between. As expected, I couldn't catch it in...

Re: 2002 SL2 PCV valve
If you have the original pcv, it functions fine until it wears. The aftermarket pcv valves tend to allow too much oil to be sucked into the intake. The fixed orifice pcv works better to solve this...

Re: 2002 SL2 PCV valve
If you currently have the OE and it’s not giving problems, clean it and use it. If you replace it, go with the one I listed. Off the top, I believe the OE number was the AC Delco 947.

Re: Occasional Clunk when Starting
Well, it's still there. This may not be turn or suspension related but rather an issue that shows up based on other circumstances. I'll update but it may be the proverbial two birds ...

Re: P0731 and No Forward
I imagine a VB replacement is certainly in the future if for no other reason than the design of the pressure regulator valve/bore. I'd like to do the pressure test on a stone cold engine but don't...

Re: P0731 and No Forward
This is what I was hoping to find. The area under the console was surprisingly clean with perhaps very little of what appeared to be dog hair or someone that needed a brush. It certainly wasn't bad...

Re: P0731 and No Forward
I spoke to Josh today and decided to go ahead and get the 5610 for pressure testing. I don't imagine there is a pump problem but would like to see the pressure in D4 1st gear.
An examination of...

Re: P0731 and No Forward
Oh, I can get the sprag out. :D But you're right, I was concerned about putting it back together.
I will call them. I was actually just looking at the hydraulic schematics in the FSM. I saw...

Re: P0731 and No Forward
I understand and you are actually more correct in your explanation than I was. It's more like the car wants to inch forward under load but doesn't fully engage. VSS actually indicates more than 3...

Re: P0731 and No Forward
I thought that first (in D) and reverse aren't electronically controlled by the valve body and should operate even with it unplugged. The only thing I can think of that the valve body would cause is...

Re: Car wash in the winter, yay or nay
Washing the undercarriage for salt spray is never going to hurt it. The salt does far more damage than water from washing ever will. You may find, however, that a salt film may remain.
The oil...

P0731 and No Forward
This nasty code and situation has happened on occasion since around January of 2017. It happened once in 2017, no big deal. It has now happened a few times in 2018 and 2019. All at cooler ambient...

Re: Occasional Clunk when Starting
So I put it up on the ramps and inspected the rear. I decided again bending the hanger rods in the rear for now since there appears to be enough clearance, and I didn't want to risk popping one off....

Re: Occasional Clunk when Starting
I tried to shift the hanger again while doing the inspection but it didn't improve clearance. Bending the hanger rod down a little seems like a great idea. I'll give it a shot tomorrow to see if it...

It's funny you mention that section. I checked it carefully again while taking the pictures and trying to shake the exhaust. It seems solid. But I did notice that the clearance from the top loop...

Re: Occasional Clunk when Starting
I inspected the rear trailing arms, bushings and rear sway bar bushings on Friday. All looked ok but are the only original suspension components other than the inner tie rods.
The LCA's and front...
