Still drives, just no brakes (rear lines)
She...

Re: Driver wiper arm
Thanks,
I was just curious if anyone has put something else on. I am currently assessing how much cash I want to spend on the old girl. She got some rust in the rear link bar mounts and every penny...

Has anyone grafted a different cars arms on to an S series?

Re: funky starter problems
Glad it worked out as well.
Why I said to check the cables was because you said If the solenoid is "engaging" but the motor is not turning, the purple wire is connected, internally and externally,...

Re: funky starter problems
Check you main positive battery cable for corrosion. Check for full battery voltage at the starter end of that cable. Sometimes they can corrode under the rubber battery end cover and you wont see...

Re: Block interchange?
^^Yes, but IIRC the SOHC pistons have a dish that clears and does the same thing as the reliefes. Just a bit lower compression. DOHC head will go on a SOHC bottom.
But the OP was asking specifically...

Re: Has anyone ever seen one of these working?
Yup, seen one working back in 93 or 94! It was the first Saturn to come into the car audio shop where I was the installation manager. We pulled it and installed a full blown Alpine system.

Attn. Ontario Canada Saturn fans
So, is anyone interested in a cheap 98 SC1 in the GTA? I have a nice clean dark green coupe going cheap!
I can get a decent scrap price but I would rather see it go to a fan. The motor is perfect,...

Re: larger tires?
Just throwing this out there as an FYI.
I ran 215/70/15's with 6 inch steel Cobalt rims on the rear of my 98 SC1 for over three years. There was no issue with lower strut spring mount clearance. It...

Re: options for getting bolts out
In this instance I disagree with a reverse drill. On a blind hole maybe, but here these bolts rust bad at the tip. This makes them very hard to back out of the nut. In fact, I have had similar broken...

Re: Painting my wheels, quick question...
I had my alloys sand blasted at the local high school.
Cleaned with soap and water and a good scrub.
Then I applied my colour of choice, which happened that Krylon made a hammered rust paint in the...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...
Retired my 98 SC1. Currently for sale but with seemingly no interest she might just be parted to supply spares to my sons SL1. Got replaced with a very low mileage 09 Sentra. Too bad really, the old...

Re: 2000 Saturn SL1 Eating Bearings
Use a new hub, clean and lightly lube (wd40, etc) the axle splines and threads, use a new axle lock nut and torque it properly. These are the most important things I have learned to do when doing...

Re: AC repair
You do know that the test port valve cores are NOT the primary seal. They will weap and leak under most normal circumstances.
You must use the service caps and they must have good seals on them....
