Re: What the !%&*@ is going on here?

I don't think I've seen a reasonably priced 1st or 2nd gen S-Series (reasonable for the condition/age) in 4+ years. The 3rd gens I've seen were reasonable for the condition & age...but they're 3rd...

Re: SOHC, coolant leak @ intake manifold?

The S-Series doesn't use a heated TB so no coolant lines there.
The EGR valve is on the head, not the intake manifold though there is at least one passage through the IM that the EGR valve utilizes....

Re: SOHC, coolant leak @ intake manifold?

This. If it's coming out at the threaded part, depending on how pressurized it is when it leaks, it'll just flow right down the runner right to your...

Re: SOHC, coolant leak @ intake manifold?

While it could be the intake manifold gasket, the normal 3rd gen problem with that is a vacuum leak and uncontrolled idle speed.

I would guess that the leak is actually at the screwed in nipple...

Re: Rear hub bolt torque?

The 10mm hex heads on the rear wheel bearing bolts are freaking TINY for the shank size of the bolt. They really should have put a 12mm hex head or even 14mm head on it. It's definitely not the...

Re: dead cigarette lighter socket

My diagram shows pin F5 for '95 as well. It's just as overloaded as the rest of 2nd gens, especially if you have power locks.
Theoretically the fuel pump could start at the exact moment you hit the...

Re: Looking for a central console armrest

I've had more tan ones than black, not sure how it's more "rare" lol

Trashed the last one I had years ago, more trouble than it's worth. They're keyed-alike and the top cracks with the slightest...

Re: 2001 SL1 Stick Shift No Power

There's no neutral switch on the manuals. On the automatic's its only used for the starting circuit which is why with 5spd swaps you either shove a 30a fuse in it or extend it into the cabin to the...

Re: 2001 SL1 Stick Shift No Power

If you have some way of blowing compressed air into the cylinders you can check that way too. The hard part is knowing where in the cycle each cylinder is so you know where to expect the air to come...

Re: 98 sc2 windshield glass

I've had mechanics say *part* is NLA because the only supplier they're willing to work with doesn't stock it (they only worked with, I believe Fisher Auto Parts). Then I either find it myself at...

Re: Repairing or Replacing Driver's Seat

For going into a '91-'95:
'91-'95 direct replacement other than exact color/pattern
'96-'98 direct replacement other than exact color/pattern and overall style
'99-'02 direct replacement other...

Re: Idle Air Control Valve 21007019

It can take a while, the PCM has no direct feedback on where the IACV actually _is_ only a table of MAP sensor, TPS sensor and RPM that tell it where the IACV should be. If there's a problem then a...

Re: P1380 with abs fault

According to AllDataDIY P1380 for '99 Saturn's is basically what code 11 was for OBD-1 cars. Not an actual fault code on it's own, but a notice that there's a problem with another system...

Re: 95 Need more RPMs 1.9 manual spring questions

Manual rev limiter: 6750 +/-100
2 cheap options around it:

Automatic PCM from a '95 DOHC to get rid of it entirely but the CEL will be on
MP2 from a SOHC car (any of them '92-'02).

Re: Ultra rare bumblebee and 10th Anniversary parts on eBay

They were ~$40 for just the big front emblem and another $30-$40 for the fender and at least $20 for the rear from the dealer.

Didn't check his ebay page but usually you have the option of making...

Re: Engine swap 98 dohc into 99 Dohc

The '99 manifold & downpipe won't fit the '98 head, you'll have to swap both.

Re: clutch hydraulics issue

If they didn't have the plastic securing tabs on the slave cylinder rod it's likely the rod either fell out or just isn't lining up. You need them intact for best results, though I never ran into...

Re: 1994 SL2 factory speakers

They're the same junk speaker in all 4 spots '91-'02. There might have been a audio package to get a slightly better junk speaker, but even today's Pyle quality is better than what GM used by default...

Re: ECU mix up, please help!

I'm not sure then, I thought all DOHC's said "PERF". Pretty sure even the '97's I swapped did but...that was a while ago :(

Pretty sure the PCM/ECM part number only changed with the transmission...

Re: ECU mix up, please help!

One says "PERF" and the other says junk.

At least the DOHC PCM's I've handled said "PERF"

Re: Thermostat.... again?

The MotoRad not only isn't OEM of any sort, both the thermostat AND the housing are smaller than OEM. ACDelco is just another junk Chinese rebrand that happens to be owned by GM. ACDelco != GM OEM.

The purple wire in the engine bay is for the starter.

Unless you're not using the 1997 harness I don't think the swapping and turn signals are related; if you're using the 2001 harness I'm...

Re: Advice on fixing broken throttle body vacuum lines?

I believe GM calls it the Vacuum Pump harness; #'s 9,10,11 and 12 in the attached diagram.

Should be the same for '96-'97 both SOHC and DOHC. Should be this item:...
