Re: Tranny Slipping into 2nd and 4th

Yes, Special Forces uses good solenoids, or replaces the bad solenoids he finds when he rebuilds them. He also sells individual solenoids. The only thing he does not do is the Sonnax sleeve on the...

Re: GM Strikes Again - Or Before - Or Earlier

My 1984 Pontiac Fiero had TBI. Even the very first Cavaliers had TBI. Fuel injection(mechanical) was available with Corvettes in their 2nd Gen or 3rd Gen. I think they called it the "Cross-fire"...

Re: 2002 Engine swap #8 to#7 Auto tranys to manual

To perform the swap from your SOHC SC1, with the DOHC/5-Speed will be a little bit tricky.

The engine, wiring, transmission, subframe, and even the entire front suspension can be dropped out the...

Re: "Rozzie" 1993 SW2 near death.... and rebirth

I did this, in early 2014, with my 1991 Pontiac Grand Am. I hit a deer, and trashed the front end, bending the frame. People would think I was crazy, because the body is rusted out on it, but it...

Re: Where You At?

People are becoming less tuned to the mentality of repairing, but what they often overlook: To repair is always easier and cheaper than trying to replace.

And that attitude goes much further than...

Re: Vehicle Was Towed Behind RV Mystery

The cluster is electronic, so in "RUN" it has power and when the drive wheels are rotating, the VSS is active to the PCM, so the speedometer reads the vehicle speed. Most GM vehicles operate like...

Re: Stall & no re-start when hot

IF fuel pressure is low, replace the filter(if this hasn't been done within the last 30,000 miles or so), and you may need to replace the fuel pump.

The pump is likely on its last leg and about...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

Drove the **** out of my SC2. 395 miles in the last two days, and just hitting the "E" line, so I still have about another 50-60 miles I can drive before it stalls.

Re: Car keeps going in and out of open/closed loop mode

I agree with replacement of the connector, when the original ECTS cracked. Fluid leaks through to the wiring, when they crack, and coolant is corrosive.

Re: no Dexron III in Halifax, do I use Mobile 1 Synthetic Dexron VI ?

+145, because these threads have been covered many, many times. Only run Dexron-VI, when you hate your transmission and like pulling engines amd transmissions to replace the transmission.

Re: Automatic Trans Issue

Less than one second should be ok, but more than 1-2 seconds, and you have a problem.

The shifting speed into reverse should be about the same as it takes to engage drive from park/nuetral.

Re: Saturn Performance Advice

I dropped a link to a daily driven(pump gas), first-gen SL2 that runs 11s i the quarter mile. So, tell me again about how great JP cars are for racing, when most of them do not male torque until...

Re: Saturn Performance Advice

Take Fetch's advice on the suspension upgrades, and get some P195/60 R15 H-Rated tires and 15" SC2 wheels for it.

Since you are shooting for 300 HP, you will want to invest in a MegaSquirt...

Re: Automatic Trans Issue

If you still have even the slightest delay into reverse, that is the symptom of a worn Boost Pressure Valve bore, which is what destroys the line pressure solenoid.

Contact Central or Special...

Re: Fuel line rupturing- Overpressure???

Re: Sohc to Dohc swap done with issues

We can verify the condition of the actual fuel mixture by pulling the spark plugs and looking for white, blistery grounds.

Part of isolation troubleshooting is to eliminate all possible causes....

Re: Saturn Help in Chicago?

Valve body replacement is usually a "one-time" thing on these cars, because the Sonnax kits permanently solve the design flaws of the original Saturn design.

The reason I am using up valve bodies...

Re: Saturn Help in Chicago?

You may need to contact Special Forces to get your VB, or contact Central Valve Body.

For delayed & slamming reverse, the boost pressure valve is likely the culprit. Reverse requires the highest...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

I think you will be quite satisfied with the first gen valve cover, over the cheap plastic ones. First Gen Saturn S-Series had most of the best of Saturn(especially 1995 S-Series).

I just added...

Re: Need help, can I drive whatever this thing is that broke?

NO!!!!! You will bend the control arms and ruin your tires.
