Re: after going from reverse into drive I hear some thuds in the front end

I'd have to check. I would right now but wife took it to work. It doesn't happen of course until I actually hit the gas peddle in drive, not as I change. It's not too loud.

after going from reverse into drive I hear some thuds in the front end

Sounds like drivers side. I thought after the new subframe it would stop. Also new lower control arms. It sounds like things are moving around or whatever but it's always the same noise. hard to...

Re: P0302 Cylinder 2 misfire detected

I cleared the code after I changed the sensor and it's not coming back. Seems fine for the most part. RPMs are good.

Re: P0302 Cylinder 2 misfire detected

Ok changed the engine coolant temp sensor. Still getting the "Open loop due to insufficient temperature." or fuel system status though. But car now turns over no prob.

P0302 Cylinder 2 misfire detected

Open loop due to insufficient temperature.

This is with a 1996 Saturn SL2.

This is my wifes car. Happened after having a hell of a time with getting a new crossmember in. Had to muscle...

Torque on crossmember bolts?

What is the torque on all the bolts related to installing a new subframe, crossmember? I have a HF torque, hopefully accurate. Should I use loctite?

Re: Would this be enough to keep the engine stable while replacing crossmember/subfra

Yeah, if I knew it existed I would have done this as well.

What do you think is a quick way to paint to protect it from future rust? It is 99% rust free now.

Re: S-Series Subframe Removal (1994-2002)

bumped. I found this would be very useful if I didn't do it already. I see others asking about this a lot.

Re: Would this be enough to keep the engine stable while replacing crossmember/subfra

Yeah we'll give it another shot on Friday or Saturday. Hopefully I don't mess up my arm any more. Pulled a muscle or something, but not while doing this.

Re: Would this be enough to keep the engine stable while replacing crossmember/subfra

What about my theory on bolts from the tranny not lining up to the subframe? Engine/tranny hanging out of place since not level?

We have 4x4 but so far it's hanging from the crane, as well as...

Re: Would this be enough to keep the engine stable while replacing crossmember/subfra

Yeah that was the first place, which I should have stuck with, until I found this thing. However the problem I ran into when trying to get the new subframe up was the middle nuts. Since the car is up...

Re: Would this be enough to keep the engine stable while replacing crossmember/subfra

I didn't even know about the support bar. I plan on returning this thing anyway. It's missing the castors, and the support beams on the side seem messed up, oh and also missing the lock washers. Plus...

Would this be enough to keep the engine stable while replacing crossmember/subframe?

Using the 1 ton crane from HF. How much does the engine weigh? less than 1000lb right?

Re: 96 Saturn SL2 crossember rust.

See, lol I blurred out my co-workers pic. He did do most of the work though. A lot of stuff I am comfortable with but this not so much.

Re: 96 Saturn SL2 crossember rust.

lmao, seriously did you go to the junk yard and tip the car I got it out of the other day? Seriously. It looks like it. It was next to the wall at the end of a aisle, it was the same color, next to a...

Re: 96 Saturn SL2 crossember rust.

However I am thinking of upgrading jackstands for bigger and better. The junked car was already way up off the ground much higher than my stands would go. On all the junkers they have one rim laying...

Re: 96 Saturn SL2 crossember rust.

A few hours and it was removed! Very near perfect condition. Most of the exhaust was already gone (someone cut it off about where the subframe was)and they had the hoist for the engine. Didn't really...

Re: 96 Saturn SL2 crossember rust.

Ok found one. Have to go back to get it. As for a junk car where I don't give a damn about the stuff I don't need. Any removal tips? What size are the bolts? Are they SAE or metric? Might pick up...

Re: 96 Saturn SL2 crossember rust.

I found one in Arizona online for 150 actually. I'm waiting on pics. but for 32 bucks and quick check at the junk yard is worth it. But if a no go then I might nab it up

New oil, old filter, can I replace the filter if there's oil in the car?

Hello everyone.

I wanted to start doing my own oil changes in my 2006 saturn ion. I've done oil changes countless times in other cars. However after I drained my oil, put the plug back in and on...

Re: security horn/lights going off randomly

Just got the new switch, installed it, and 5 minutes later it started doing it again. I'll try maybe the passenger side one and see if it helps. It's draining my battery down to nothing every time. I...
