Re: Valve body replacement - drop transmission?

You need to get that car outta that shop ASAP. When my 99 SL2 was wrecked and totaled at close to 220k miles it had the original STILL perfectly functioning VB in it. The difference is I took very...

Re: One Headlight Out???

I still think it's mice chewing the wires. Had the same issue on my 01 SL2. Little *******s like wiring

Re: Ice

Had a similar incident with our youngest daughter. She was a relatively new driver and was on her way to work at the local Machine Shed restaurant early one VERY frigid (actual temps about -6, wind...

Re: New saturn owner

Why don't you just buy the proper adapters from Metro? Makes hooking up as easy as falling of a rock

Re: Failing thermostat or ECTS?

Under the cold conditions the OP is in and given the engine only idling and not under a load what he's seeing is entirely normal. Short of building a fire under the engine he will not get it any...

Re: Matching paint

My daughter managed to shatter both her RR 1/4 panel and the RR door panel. I bought a a set from a guy parting out his "purple IIRC" S series. Her car metallic pale blue. I got the paint numbers,...

Re: Transmission or other?

Don't waste your money on additives. Mechanics don't come inside bottles and neither do Genies. As for freeze frame you simply wait for the surge or whatever you're calling it to happen and hit the...

Re: One Headlight Out???

Had the same issue happen to my 01 SL2 when I owned it. Turned out to be mice eating the lighting harness. Had to remove the entire front fascia to get to it. F67king rodents

Re: Transmission or other?

Personally I think (like I see many people on here doing) you may be making a mountain out of a mole hill. First you need to do a freeze frame with a good scan tool when this happens. Odds are it...

Re: New 07 vue 2.2

If you look at for sale ads of Vues with the 2.2 engine (no matter the year) you'll see many of them pointing out "new" engine. Of course they aren't "new" (well maybe some of them. the one I had had...

Re: One tire replaced on AWD vue automatic

The Subaru tech is right. AT the very least the tire should match on one axle. Best to go back to Walmart and get one more new tire. Put the new ones on the rear axle and you should be fine

Re: Insane oil Consumption

You're the exception. By the time many people here would find one rust will have eaten it's share of the car. Or a collision will have taken it out. I have not been able to wear a car out. Either it...

Re: Failing thermostat or ECTS?

You're stuck in deep freeze just like us. Odds are nothing is wrong. So in certain driving conditions 18 mpg may be entirely normal.
Your description of how the gauge itself is responding is not...

Re: Insane oil Consumption

Good luck on keeping it forever. One huge issue will be rust. The rear frame will rot away (if it hasn't already) as will the front sub frame. Also the brake lines. And the unibody i.e. door sills...

Re: Frozen or transmission?

Sorry JWar. Cut your losses. You now own an expensive boat anchor. If the vehicle is otherwise in good shape you can part it out for the engine, body panels, interior pieces what have you. But sadly...

Re: Thinking of getting a Vue

Yes though IMO you're better off just buying an actual Honda. AS good as the Honda engine/trans combo is the rest of the vehicle is pretty chintzy and relatively low quality. Plenty of issues on the...

Re: Thinking of getting a Vue

Having owned one I think I would recommend against it. However if you're dead set and you think it will be as reliable as your true Saturn then I would recommend one equipped with Honda V6 and drive...

Re: Brake Pad Replace Feedback

Not sure what kind of autos you've been driving but actually not true. With modern autos and lockup converters and the like they engine brake (no downshifting) as well as anything. Owned and driven...

Re: Brake Pad Replace Feedback

Many Asian 4 wheel disc cars have been having rear pad wear issues i.e. rapid wear. Honda on some models especially. YMMV

Re: Salvaged SW2 with 55,000 miles, WWYD???

My 2006 Highlander is a rebuilt/salvage title. The car had a minor hit rt frt fender, lower valance and headlight. On top of that is was repossessed. The guy I got it from specializes in repoing cars...

Re: Replaced intake manifold gasket now worse than ever

In all the years and all the Saturns (and other cars) I have had unless I had some type of battery or charging system issue I never had a problem and I never put a charger on my cars

Re: New Felpro Intake Gasket Leaks.

I honestly dpn't know the part numbers. I just remember it's what was used on my daughter's problematic 2002 sl1 prior to her buying it. She has now put MANY miles on it and not a peep of an issue

Re: New Felpro Intake Gasket Leaks.

It is a common issue on the SL1. FelPro came out with a gasket for them called the "Problem Solver". give that a try and be mindful of how you torque everything. Do it in proper sequence and proper...

Re: Replaced intake manifold gasket now worse than ever

Yeah that's all I was trying to get at. IMO if your battery is good (no bad cells, internal shorts, opens, etc) and the charging system is 100% I've never seen a need to use an external...
