Re: How to check oil pressure relief valve?

Saturn part number start with 21, the entire engine is a Saturn assembly. A 12 is GM generic. Any part that fits will be a 21 or 12 except some clips and fasteners.

Re: up shift light on all the time even when idie

Re: What Does Factory Exhaust System Look Like?

That will work IF you use a bit of dish soap in the spray bottle and be observant for any trace of bubbles.

Re: What Does Factory Exhaust System Look Like?

That will work and you do not need a tight connection at the tail pipe as a couple inches of water pressure will show the leaks.

You should not replace the front pipe. A sawzall will remove the cat if required so a proper replacement can be welded into place.

Re: How to check oil pressure relief valve?

Block of OAK and a pry bar underneath. Disassemble the oil pump completely out of the cover and then heat the relief valve and surrounding aluminum up to 200F or so, relief will push out easily.

Re: Clutch hydraulics sticking...I think

There is no pilot bearing in these cars. The throwout bearing is in continual light contact with the clutch diaphragm fingers and with enough wear they can hang up in the released position. The TO...

Re: How to check oil pressure relief valve?

The part Waiex191 linked is the bypass relief that is used in all s-series cars. There is NO way to test just the pressure setting with the valve in place.

Take the timing cover off and clean it...

Re: Computer fitment

Re: Clutch hydraulics sticking...I think

That is the clutch cover with soft engage feature and if that series of wedges hangs up the clutch will not engage. This is the thing you have to wind up when you install it and those 3 fingers with...

Re: Silly Electrons

Generally a battery swap does take long enough to get a good cold start. Most of these failures trace to a chronic low battery condition and a hard start drops voltage low enough to cause data stream...

Re: DOT tire date code of 494X

If you park outside the sidewalls will develop shallow cracks. Over time these deepen to the point you can see the white color of the cord. When you see cord they are finished. Tire life is extended...

Re: Stumped on loss of oil pressure.

Pump will show rotor tip wear and if the inside face of teh cover is scored that is where the oil went. The high pressure relief may have a chunk of chain guide stuck in it as it opens on every cold...

Re: Silly Electrons

I used to explain how to do this reset when the system went sideways but got tired of the arguing about how it all functioned and why it may or may not work. Low battery usually sets you up for this...

Re: Silly Electrons

The BCM has a small embedded processor in it. One of the only user possible fixes for a flaky BCM is a system cold boot. By leaving the lights on you succeeded in cold booting the system(BCM). The...

Re: DOT tire date code of 494X

That presence of short shallow(no cord exposed) cracking is a sign of excessive sidewall flexing and UV exposure. To come up with the manufacturing date a scan of the manufacturer web site is usually...
