Re: Here's a mysterious trouble...

The IATS, ECTS (2-wire), and TTS (auto Trans Temp Sensor) are all the same part. If you have a 1-wire sensor in place of the IATS then that'll be your problem. The only place the 1-wire sensor...

Re: Here's a mysterious trouble...

I'd still have replaced it again, sounds rather like you were sold the wrong one(s) (when I had S-Series I always had a bunch of known good ECTS's in my toolbox so I wouldn't have bought...

Re: Cylinder Head Removal - DOHC

Doing the timing chain in-car is about as much fun as having a tooth pulled with no pain killer. Can't see ****, can't reach **** and the whole job feels like it's just ****.

For the crankshaft...

Re: Here's a mysterious trouble...

I'd have replaced the ECTS months ago, based on those temp related symptoms alone.

'91-'95 have 2 engine temp sensors, one for the PCM that controls the engine and one for the temp gauge. $10-$15...

Re: will these rims work with default tires?

DOHC got 15's, SC2 got alloy 15's stock while they were optional on everything except SL.
SOHC got 14's, no alloy option in 14" but 15" alloys were optional.

7" is a bit wide for a 195 tire but...

Re: Transmission repairs

They didn't work from the factory. I used to have dealer documentation to prove it from a '97 SW2 that got a rebuilt unit at 22k miles and when I got the car at 114k miles...it needed ANOTHER MP7...

Re: Parts availability

I find it unlikely the yards listed on car-parts.com didn't have the part, far more likely they don't have it individually listed and you'd have to see if they have the "big" part it's attached...

Re: Manual window regulator compatability

The regulators are door specific. For a '95 4dr that means either SL or SW in the '91-'95 year range and for the specific door required. SC doors & windows are longer, the regulators won't swap.

Re: 99 ECM into a 98 SL with a 95 DOHC 5 spd

You're fine with the '99 ECM, just need the '96+ injectors.

CC doesn't work on '96+ with a gear ratio mismatch (wrong manual trans or manual trans with auto trans ECM). OldNuc and DIYGuy have...

Re: 2001 DOHC Engine Rebuild Difficulty

If budget doesn't matter it's hard to do better than Starrett. Pratt & Whitney make some good gauge's too, our shop has ones that measure +/- 0.0006in from the 50's.
Not sure which is more expensive...

Re: 1999 SL2 Manual Transmission/Clutch Issue

3 options if the shift cables are intact and moving things on both ends; in order of expense unless the hydraulics cost have come down by about $100 in the last 10 years.
1) Axle snapped, the one...

Re: Automatic to manual in a 95 DOHC

Only need the upper switch to keep cruise control working properly. Even without the switch it should work, it just won't turn off when you hit the clutch pedal (99% of the time you're going to hit...

Re: MEvotech LCA NFG -- STAY AWAY!!

With Moog it's hit & miss on the grease fitting. Part number doesn't matter. I've had identical labels on box's and gotten 1 of each (checked at home 45min from the store..."too late to fix now").

Re: Would something like this work?

The main problem Charlie needs to fix is that the current version of the forum in use is over 8 years old and reached EoL over 3 years ago with known, easy, workarounds to the login security system....

Re: Automatic to manual in a 95 DOHC

If you want the CEL off you'll have to find a '95 DOHC with 5spd, otherwise you don't need to do anything.

Only the '91 and maybe '92 transmissions are annoying, '93-'02 they're interchangeable....

Re: need help with power steering pump part #

With a '93 SL2 and a '94 SL rack I also had to swap the u-joint to the steering column to get the manual rack to work (had both cars in my yard, easy fix). Not sure it's always required but best to...

Re: [TIP] Affordable OBDII Reader (USB Connector Interface Adapter) - Tested/Works $2

Re: New Fuel Pump for a 97

There is an in-tank filter, not sure what you'd call it. It snaps onto the intake port on the fuel pump. The new pump should come with one.

Re: New Fuel Pump for a 97

ShawnV took out more than I needed to on both a '93 SL2 and '96 SC2, but it reads as if he managed to get the tank out with the back end just lifted on standard height ramps (I had to jack both to...

Re: 2nd gen steering wheel swap, for a 3rd gen wheel?

Shouldn't be that hard to make the steering wheel swap, though I can't see it being worth the...
