Re: Cylinder Head Removal - DOHC

The question I'd ask is why do you think the head needs to be replaced?

Re: 2001 SL2 P304. #4 cilynder or #4 firing order?

Spark test your coils of they have a lot of miles on them and then run a compression test.

Re: Here's a mysterious trouble...

Actually 1996 was the first year for the recalibrated temp gauge. The 95's should run about a needle width below the 1/2 mark.

I'd be suspect of the gauge but just because the thermostat is new...

Re: Highmile Milestone 700k

Thanks all...

I really don't know if I'll make the 1 million mile mark or not. I add right at 30k/yr so 10yrs of driving to get to 1 million. I'm hoping to retire a couple of years before that....

Re: Highmile Milestone 700k

No, the Odometer gear issues seemed to end after the 94 model year. I did replace one in my daughters car many years ago but never had an issue with mine.

Highmile Milestone 700k

Never had a doubt that I'd get here but I think about all the places this little car has taken me and it's staggering.

The last 100k have been pretty uneventful all in all. I did rebuild the...

Re: Parts availability

be careful, I found there was a change in them in the 94 to 95 model year.

I bought a manual regulator for my 95 (which was a very early production car) and it didn't fit. Bought a 94 regulator...

Saturn contest

I say we find the spammer and hook them between 2 saturns like a tug-o-war. Winner is the one that gets the biggest piece.

Re: How far to press the front hubs in?

I always shrink fit my bearings and axle flanges. Heat the knuckle to 300 degrees with a propane torch then retrieve the bearing from the deep freezer and drop in. Cool the knuckle with wet towels....

Re: Sl1 brake help

did you adjust the rear brakes so they are lightly dragging on the drums?

Re: new tire recommendations?

or do what I did and dump the 14's and pick up a set of used 15" steels and covers. So many more choices of tires.

Re: New SL2 Owner, high idle speed-

I'd clean the throttle body and the air idle control valve before I jumped in and replaced the TPS. I've seen so many gunked up so badly that they would high idle like that. Restarted forces the air...

Re: Should we keep our '02 Saturn?

Most of the time you can find serviceable subframes in the local u-pull-it type salvage yards. Also check craigslist and FB marketplace. There is one for sale here in the st Louis area for $50.

Re: Good Plastic Body Panel Glue ?

Download an app called Row52. Will show yards in your area if they are signed up on it. If they are it will also show their inventory.

Re: Wheel Hub runout

I'd drive the studs out and then use a file laid flat on the surface to clean it up.

If...

Re: Saturn Sl1 struggling to move

Could be something simple too. Would it back up more or would it not move at all?

Does the engine rev when you step on the gas while it's in gear?

Have you check the transmission fluid lately?...
