Re: SC2 Cooling Fan troubleshooting help

I replaced the ECTS a few years ago when my Saturn was my daily driver. Not sure why I did now, but I think it had a strange fluctuating idle when it was down close to freezing.

Now, I'm...

Thanks for your help. Jumpered the low pressure switch for the A/C and the fan flashed up like nothing.

Now to see about recharging my a/c.....

Thanks again!

SC2 Cooling Fan troubleshooting help

Need some help troubleshooting a non functioning cooling fan on a 96 SC2 with AC. The car has been sitting for about 2 years.

Before, I could force the fan on with the A/C, but now that doesn't...

Re: intake manifold cleaning

It will stall if you are not careful. Be judicious with the spray.

Re: not having ABS SUCKS!!

A couple of observations in breezing through the previous posts.

1. Intersections are always much more slick than the road approaching it.

2. A good investment is an outdoor thermometer. If...

Re: Canadian Winter Tires

Agreed. I've bought two sets of winters, for two different cars from Canadian Tire and have had an overall negative experience both times. The tires were ok, but the overall level of service was...

Re: Foglights!!

Any of this discussion apply to the generation 1 SC2? I'm having similar problems with the Motorcraft (crappy tire) brand of bulbs, 893X.

Re: Deer strike - need parts for 1996 SW1

Same thing happened to me last fall.

Just for comparison, I took my 96 SC2 to a local GM dealer. A new drivers front fender, door skin, mirror and windshield came to $3000 Canadian.

Re: Newbie wants a sc2

Well, after 3 years and 60k km of my own on my used 96 SC2, it has been nearly 100% trouble free.

The only thing maintenance-wise has been a blown differential seal. Turning on to 160k km, still...

Re: GM's problems

Here's the link to the Isuzu article. However, be forewarned, it has a definate bias.

Re: GM's problems

I recently read that GM is quietly unloading its interest in Isuzu to Mitsubishi. The article was also quick to point out that Isuzu was the only GM subsidiary that was actually making money.

It...

Re: Body panels and paint

Make sure that the body shop uses a "flex" additive, to compensate for the expansion and contraction of the body panels.

Re: Cruise Control Issue

Not totally sure what brand it was, it was the aerosol kind, whatever brand it was.

I pulled off my air intake hose, and with the engine idling, I sprayed all around the throttle valve and the...

Re: Cruise Control Issue

My 96 SC2 did the same thing. I pumped a bunch of carb cleaner into the intake as I read on the forum here somewhere that a sticky throttle will do something similar.

It seemed to clear up after...

Re: My Saturn SC was stolen

Glad to hear you recovered the car. From my understanding, most insurance companies won't settle until the car is found.

Anyways, as an FYI for other readers, an older key (92 SC1) can open the...

Re: How clean is your Saturn's interior?

Generally cluttered. Coffee cups, soda bottles and the like. It also needs a good vacuum.

However, I work in a sawmill, so lots of dust and wood particles all over the dashboard. I keep a box of...

Re: 1992 Saturn Coupe (Help!)

Another thing you may want to consider is the climate you live in.

I live in a region of British Columbia where they throw down a ton of salt to save wear and tear on the local snowplow.

So,...

Manual Transmission Leaks

Hello,

Parking my 96 SC2 5 speed in a garage for the first time in about 4 months, I noticed a couple spots of ATF under the car when I moved it out.

Now, these spots of ATF were from under the...

Re: Engine "warm up" time?

Moving back to the block heater posts, I have seen a nifty unit that gently warms and circulates the coolant through the block and heater core.

When I took my 96 SC2 in to a body shop after a deer encounter, they told me that the windshield they got from their supplier didn't fit. The supplier...

Re: How much profit do dealers make?

Not that this is big news, but dealers make most of their money on the used cars.

Example. A friend of mine traded in his Explorer on a lease return F150. He had to fight to get $5000. They...

Re: Replacing fuel pump tips? brands? 95 sl2

Speaking of fuel pumps.....

Is there any way to access the fuel pump without dropping the tank? I have a 96 SC2

I had an 89 Dodge Colt 200GT, and it had an access port under the back seat. Of...

Well, don't really know what else is connected to the cruise fuse, but here is a useless bit of info for you.

I have found that when you poach the cruise fuse to replace a chime fuse, the service...

Re: Fog Lights

Not sure if it's just a 96 thing, but there seems to be some manner of splash shield where you would reach up. It's not solid, but cut out in a manner where you can fold it out of the way to reach...

Re: Lights are On

If you have a voltmeter, check the voltage of the battery when the car is running. Should be 14.4V if I am not mistaken. If it is less, than the alternator is probably starting to go.

I remember...
