Re: PCM wire for coolant gauge

So, I figured I'd let everyone know the final resolution of my problem... I took the IP Cluster out and tried tapping in a new wire between it and the sensor. After much trial and error, I've come to...

Re: PCM wire for coolant gauge

Got it!

I'm expecting a broken wire so, I will probably end up putting a resistor in between the cluster and ground to confirm I'm on the correct wire.

Thanks again for the help... I'll report...

No apology necessary fdryer... I was asking about the PCM and you were just following my lead.

Thanks for the assistance, both now, and in the past.

Re: PCM wire for coolant gauge

Thanks once more OldNuc!

Yes, I've had to take the cluster out in the past to change the infamous odometer gear.

I would have needed to search for the instructions again though so, the link is...

Re: PCM wire for coolant gauge

Thanks for the diagram SRGW; Yes, that does make it a little clearer.

Thanks OldNuc for the clarification (and for all the other countless times you've helped me in other posts without knowing...

Re: PCM wire for coolant gauge

Been thinking about it in the morning light.... if the ECTS does indeed go directly to the gauge, where is the voltage coming from to read the resistance?

Re: PCM wire for coolant gauge

fdryer... unfortunately, there IS a break in the wire (thus the need to run a new one) so, continuity test won't work here.

fetchitfido... never even crossed my mind to look anywhere other than...

Re: PCM wire for coolant gauge

(I believe) All the PCM connectors in my car are light blue (which I think is correct, based on the FSM).

The pin you reference is for the telltale light; I originally wondered if that was the...

Re: PCM wire for coolant gauge

Thanks fdryer.

Based on that, I believe I need to tap into pin C12 (yellow) on J1; "ECT Feed". Would you agree?

I don't recall seeing this label in my FSM but, I'll double check when I get home...

I rarely post here so, first and foremost, thanks to everyone on this site... you've helped me replace almost every part in my car over the years!

Re: Need to adjust pop up headlights

So, I didn't do a permanent mod yet but, last night I temporarily put some spacers on the top corners of one of the housings and it definitely worked (need to get longer spacers though).

Thanks...

Re: Need to adjust pop up headlights

OMG, that is such a simple solution, I can't believe I didn't figure it out on my own.

There's no doubt in my mind that'll work... thanks so much.

I'll report back when I try it out (might take...

Re: Need to adjust pop up headlights

Managed to get the spacers in (broke a couple of bolts in the process, body is definitely bent someplace).

There is some improvement, but not even close to being acceptable. I'm going to have to...

Re: Need to adjust pop up headlights

Thanks so much Fetchitfido! I didn't even realize that mount could do anything with regards to aiming. I'll take a look when I get outside, but I'm guessing the other two bolts will be more obvious...

I hear ya about the snow. We avoided getting dumped on this storm (it was mostly rain), but this Winter has been a killer!

Thanks Fetchitfido... I've definitely been coon hunting with these (never seen an owl in my neck of the woods)!

Thanks for the reply Ramics.

If you read through my post though, you will see that I am not asking how to aim the headlights (which is what all the other posts are about), I am asking if the...

Well, After playing with the car this weekend (had to replace the famous odometer gear), I think I was/am dealing with two seperate issues here.

Thanks for the explanation... Now I get what you're saying! ;)

fdryer, sorry if I'm being ignorant; I understand what you're saying, but don't see how any of the four scenarios you mentioned would apply to only when it's extremely hot out.

Like I said, on...

I'll check the fan out today. I didn't realize it's suppossed to spin whenever the compressor is on (If I'm understanding ssicarman correctly). I'll take a closer look, but I've had to sit in stopped...
