Re: Reversed jumper cables! SMOKE

The battery light being on is a strong indicator that the alternator is dead, but could just mean the fuse-able link between the starter and alternator fried (line goes battery->starter->alternator)....

Re: Dust cap for 98 SL1

Seeing as that's a non-removable part of the hub...that's not a dust cap. Rather like blinker fluid & muffler bearings.

$40ish plus 30min to swap in a nice new bearing & hub assembly (longer if...

Re: Bent Rim

If steel you can hammer it back into shape, but I've found using anything to protect the finish means I can't smack it hard enough to do any good. Not a problem if you have a heated garage but it's...

Re: Help Identifying A Part

You guys haven't seen the Ignition Control Module without the coils on it before?

Harness plugs in at the bottom, the blue things are where the coils connect and the holes between the tabs on the...

Re: 2002 SC2 Power Steering Replacement (Noise)

With pumps for ANY car when they say "reman" they mean that they degreased it, painted it, and maybe replaced a couple o-rings. If you're really lucky they checked for play in the pump shaft and...

Re: Code P0446 is pending but emission readiness was all complete (green)

Pending codes mean that the OBD-II monitoring system has failed the operation of an emission control system at least once and if it fails again the Check Engine Light will be turned on and the...

Re: Belt System Help

Take the belt off, spin the pulleys that you can to feel for bumps/scratchy-ness in the way it turns. Think it's a 14mm bolt, push forward towards the headlights. Tight fit and a long handled wrench...

Re: The dreaded P0301

I believe the injectors effectively use a PWM signal, if the noid light is incandescent rather than LED it can't flash on-off fast enough to see. You might see a minor pulsing but that would be about...

Re: Windshield Swap

Safelite generally just use's a plastic spatula looking thing on a sawzall for cutting the seal. When that doesn't reach/fit they do it the old fashioned way...with about the most annoying tool I can...

Re: The dreaded P0301

Usually the intake manifold gasket issue is just a higher than normal idle and only on the '99ish-'02's...not the '91-'98's. By all means, don't be afraid to spray around with carb cleaner looking...

Re: S-Series Subframe Removal (1994-2002)

It's the same procedure '91-'02, just the radiator mount change's height by ~3" between '93 and '94. Possibly the dog bone mount on the transmission side too.
I've put the wrong radiator in going...

Re: 1992 CD Radio

Alcohol won't do much unless you dismantle the whole thing, hose it down a bit with De-Oxit cleaner (https://www.amazon.com/Hosa-D5S-6-DeoxIT-Contact-Cleaner/dp/B00006LVEU/).

Re: Broken Bolt Help

Pretty sure all the plastic covers use the same bolts, so '94(Cali Emission), '96-'02 ought to work if you have the plastic cover. If you have the aluminum cover then I believe it's '91-'95. One...

Re: 02 SL2--Lower Control Arm/Ball Joint: Seized Bolt

You'll have to cut the bolt out. Both sides, the head has to come off and the nut end has to come off. Even if you burn the rubber bushing out the inner part is still seized onto the bolt. Try to get...
