You may have a faulty or failing flasher relay. On the L series the relay module is also the hazard switch situated on your dashboard. They are like $20.00+/-. It's a plug & play.

Replacement Headliner is a composite of a foam backing with the headliner material glued onto it. It is quite substantial in thickness. It is that foam backing and the glue that has failed on yours....
