Re: Sticky spot when pushing the gas pedal..

We had a sticky peddle and didn't think much of it. We started getting idle problems and I cleaned out the throttle bottle and replaced the associated valve (which can be cleaned instead of...

Re: Power rear door lock not working

I think it's unlikely that the new actuator is also broken. But if I wanted to test whether it works (ie hook up a battery to it), is there an easy way to that? I can't find any info on the power it...

Re: Power rear door lock not working

The power lock on the broken door (rear driver side) doesn't work from the remote or the driver side door. As for the passenger side door, I don't think that works either. I'm curious: why did you...

Power rear door lock not working

The power rear door lock on our 1999 SL2 DOHC sedan stopped working. Some facts:

1)All the other power door locks work fine
2)The normal (ie non-power) lock works fine on the broken door (which...

Re: What AC hose do I need?

I'm beginning to appreciate that. :) By the way, I got an email from trademotion. They thoughtfully noticed that the o-rings come with the hose, so I don't need to order them separately.

Re: What AC hose do I need?

Thanks guys!

OldNuc: The part numbers were very useful. trademotion.com had each park in stock and I just placed my order.

fdryer: Your modified pictures are incredibly clear and helpful.

Re: What AC hose do I need?

I have some more info: The inside diameter of the new hose is 2mm. The old busted hose's inside diameter is 2.5mm. (The inside diameters for where the bolt attach are both 0.75mm). (See the side by...

Re: What AC hose do I need?

Unfortunately, I think they are incompatible. My mechanic tried and couldn't get it to fit. Comparing the two metal ends of the hoses side by side, they look very different too....

What AC hose do I need?

We had our busted AC conditioner diagnosed in our 1999 Saturn SL2 DOHC. An A/C Refrigerant Hose hose had a huge leak (lo, if I remember correctly). My mechanic called around and told me to order this...

I got my scanner from diydiagnostics.com. Affordable and gives you live data, freeze data and codes, etc.

1999 SL2: 172K miles. Burns a quart a little less than 1000 miles. Running good recently.

Re: Running hot and bad EGR Valve troubles

The ECTS is very cheap, and removing the O2 sensor is free. So it makes sense to check those first.

I recently had an EGR valve problem that wasn't fixed by a new EGR valve. The EGR valve problem...

Fixed: what I replaced

Just a follow-up. I decided to replace everything.

I bought a smog pump from another 1999 SL2 (salvage yard, $50) along with the diverter and switching valves ($25 extra). The replacement was easy...

Smoke from Secondary Air/Smog Pump. What to replace?

Last week I noticed smoke (http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=157797) coming from my "secondary air injection system" pump (aka smog pump) and a P0410 code. The problem went away while...

Re: Jerky Saturn problem narrowed down to EGR valve. What next?

Here's new freeze data and live data from idle. I'd be glad to get any other data, if wanted. The car is still running great. No EGR valve errors, no hesitate, great acceleration. (My smog...

Re: Jerky Saturn problem narrowed down to EGR valve. What next?

Yeah, I think it is possible that my coder (Pro-Series CAN OBDII Code Reader, http://www.diydiagnostics.com/ ) doesn't distinguish between past and current codes. It does distinguish between pending...

Update

Here's an update. This info probably won't help the immediate discussion, but will be useful if anyone has a similar situation.

Update, details

First: I brought the car to its WA state emission test. The car had no SES light but still had a P0401 code. My code reader said it was a trouble code (not a pending code) which would fail the test....

Re: Jerky Saturn problem narrowed down to EGR valve. What next?

Since worsening, I've noticed something else: The car won't jerk during the first minute or so after starting it after it's cooled. Then it starts jerking whenever accelerating from a dead stop....
