Re: Looking for a central console armrest

I'm 99% sure the armrests from 96-99 SC will fit in your SL2 - some one can confirm this

you can fit the whole console (from cupholder back) from the 2000-2002 SL/SC/SW as well with some work...

Re: SL1 revving way too high at idle and while driving

+1 on TPS.

I had same issue, TPS fixed it for a few days, then the symptoms returned.

Exchanged the new defective TPS for another one, then all was good.

Re: dead cigarette lighter socket

Good info, thanks!

Saturn must have made a change - maybe owners were complaining of cig lighter issues. I'm showing for my 98 the cig lighter on #13 by itself (PL still on #12). But for...

Re: dead cigarette lighter socket

Probably not the F5 issue as there would be other issues (F5 issue due to a lot of loads being run through that juncture - chime, fuel pump, etc)

Go to the passenger side - pull the panel by the...

Re: hvac levers and cable lubrication

3rd gen still used cables. The rotary knobs are connected to rotating gears, which move the cables. Got a good pic of the front. The red arrows show where the cable ends attach.

Unfortunately,...

Re: Need to replace oil pan, help w/ links/info?

^ ^ ^
Yep, need to trim the corner of the pan

This oilpan clearance is a problem only for 3rd gen-engined cars (2000-2002)

I think you found the answer - there are several pics of the oil...

Re: What the !%&*@ is going on here?

I don't think it is just Saturns - hard to find good cheap cars anymore.

Shortage of cheap transportation, and high demand.

Re: Sl2 rear suspension

no, you never bend anything to align. Always involves loosening a bolt, moving something, then re-tightening.

You're talking about part 15 on the right side of this diagram?

Re: 2001 SL1 Stick Shift No Power

It's a 2001 - check the pre-cat. Exhaust manifold will connect to a coffee-can looking thing, the innards could be clogged or broken off. This chokes the exhaust before the cat.

The fix is...

Re: 98 SC2 project. Drive for now, maybe rebuild later.

Oh yeah, totally forgot - doing the headliner got rid of the last of that stubborn cigarette smell. I had already Febreezed everything but still had that noticeable whiff of smoke.

I never did...

I agree, but there is no rust in that engine pic.

On my '02 SC2, you can see rust on the battery bolts, strut mount bolts, radiator support, light brackets, etc. That engine pic looks really...

Re: Some updates and repairs on my 1999 Homecoming..PICS

Good to hear the underbody is in decent shape. Rust is the worst. My Saturns would be excellent except for the rust. Just like the exterior :D

Re: 98 SC2 project. Drive for now, maybe rebuild later.

Nice work on the headliner!

Mine had a few minor wrinkles but they are covered by the passenger sunshade, so normally out of sight :D Plus a few areas where my sunroof is could use a little work....
