Re: SOHC, coolant leak @ intake manifold?

I'm glad you got it fixed. I wonder what caused it.

Re: SOHC, coolant leak @ intake manifold?

I know my DOHC EGR is on the head, but I wasn't sure about the SOHC or if that may have changed with the generations.

Re: SOHC, coolant leak @ intake manifold?

Re: Keep my SL2 or get a SW2?

I don't seem to see the wagons around, but the pictures I see here make me want one, and I'm not really a wagon person.

Re: Rear drum brakes, complete overhaul

Ok, as I mentioned in my other thread, I took a while off from this project.

I did my best to clean up the backing plates, but the rust was just so heavy. I wire wheeled them as best as I could,...

Re: SOHC, coolant leak @ intake manifold?

You were asking about coolant in the intake, and I'm not sure of that answer, but I've heard of throttle bodies having coolant running through them. The Vortec 350 does and some/all of the earlier...

Re: Rear hub bolt torque?

Yes, they are a 10mm thread with a 10mm head that's flanged. I pulled one this afternoon and measured. I torqued them to 50ft-lbs with anti-seize. I could barely make out a 10 on one of them.......

Is there coolant running through the throttle body?

Re: HELP finding massive coolant leak

I considered doing that but figured my filing would not be uniform and it would likely prevent me from getting a refund on them. Rockauto gave me a refund without returning them, so then I ordered...

Re: Rear hub bolt torque?

Yes, those are the bolts I'm referring too. They do look like a high strength bolt, but checking Fastenall's website, that is a little high even for a grade 12.9 10mm bolt for certain...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

After letting my car sit for 2 weeks or so, with the no rear wheels, brakes, hubs etc, I finally started working on it again. The first thing I did was install the anti-sway bar links.... this will...

Rear hub bolt torque?

I'm still working on my rear brakes after I let them sit for awhile. I just bolted on the back plates and hubs today..... but I have no idea what the torque number is supposed to be. It wasn't on...

Re: HELP finding massive coolant leak

Good enough then..... I was just thinking of everything connected may as well be done too. I too would skip the thermostat since I recently installed one. I would probably do the transmission...

Re: What the !%&*@ is going on here?

Toyota I knew about, but I didn't know he likes Ford. I guess I haven't seen enough of his videos.

Re: hvac levers and cable lubrication

Thank you for posting the pictures. I guess that eliminates the blend door issue that some of the trucks like mine get.

Re: What the !%&*@ is going on here?

Really? I watched one of his videos the other day about the S-series and all he did was complain about the transmission...... it was an SL1 with the slamming problem and he kind of made it out to be...

Re: hvac levers and cable lubrication

I had no idea cables were used. I would have thought it would have been servo type motors like my truck.

Edit: Although now that I think about it., I bet mine are servo's. I don't have the...

Re: HELP finding massive coolant leak

I've done 3 between my truck and my Buick.... I don't remember why I needed one for my Buick. It's copper/brass. My truck has broken the tank on the driver's side, twice. I finally decided that it...

Re: 98 SC2 project. Drive for now, maybe rebuild later.

One of these days, I'm expecting to open this thread and find that you're using some sort of glue or resin to reattach you main bearing caps :D

Re: FREE+shipping OEM headlights

I didn't get a single response on this, so the headlights are getting tossed..... looking at them as I was removing a few bits the adjusters were quite rusty anyway. I tried removing the level on...

Re: 1996SL11.9L's 2002 SL1

I don't think any Stant is made in Germany unless they're getting thermostats from a German company for specific German car applications.

Re: 98 sc2 windshield glass

I beleive those are actually their facilities. They're not likely to sell directly to a consumer. Probably the best bet would be to send the corporate office an email and ask them for a nearby...

Re: Trying to figure out what this connector is

I believe that plugs in right underneath the transmission cooler hoses, there on the transmission, on my car. I have no idea what it does.
