Re: Cracked transmission filter 1994 SL1

While I no longer have my SL2, I recall changing the tranny filter on it & my earlier SW2 several times. Never did I have to go to the trouble of removing the wheel or inner fender. I recall simply...

Re: cabin air filter mod with pictures

I know this thread is reaching back a long time.... but how do you keep the filter "horizontal" and keep it from falling into the air duct. How does your "door" stay in place. I saw your rubber...

Re: Aura Intake Resonator Bong Delete

Note You can see after removing the bong that NOTHING is affected as far as the risk to the engine. The inlet to the air filter is actually higher so there's an even less chance of taking on water,...

Re: rear high mount brake light

I just went back to my original post from like 7 years ago. When I replaced those hi-mount bulbs, I had to go to a Saturn dealer for them. Typical auto parts stores did not carry them. They...

Re: The definitive guide to Gen3 S-series instrument cluster bulb replacement

Great Cars: I replaced all incandescent bulbs in by '01 SL2 cluster with equivalent bulbs from BelMetric. The link to them is found in the 8-31-11 post on this thread by "Silver gagT04." It is the...

Re: Question about durability of '03-'04 auto climate control systems

So, if the control head fails, I would have no a/c heat in this car? I found a couple in a quick search... about $250-300.

Re: Upgraded L-Series 2.2L Timing Chain Tensioner & Oiler (Pictures and Part Numbers)

Pierrot: Thanks for the info, but what you say about the production dates seems to contradict what "Lippy" said in his 3-12-12 post:

"While the chain recall was with the early models...GM did...

Re: Upgraded L-Series 2.2L Timing Chain Tensioner & Oiler (Pictures and Part Numbers)

I drove the car today and it seems well-kept. It had a Dec. 2002 build date, so would that be on the "tipping point" of having or not having the chain/oil issue corrected?

Re: Question about durability of '03-'04 auto climate control systems

Thank you both for the valuable information! I was not familiar with the world of "control heads," but I guess I should research it. Does the term refer to the entire display surface, including the...

Re: Dumb things I've done to my car

Gee, TurboZutek, I am considering an apparently well-kept '03 L200 with just 32k on it. What sorts of issues have caused you regret with your L200? The question I have about this prospective L200...

Re: Upgraded L-Series 2.2L Timing Chain Tensioner & Oiler (Pictures and Part Numbers)

I am sorry to come "late to the party" on this question, but am considering a 2003 L200 4-cyl as a used car buy. It has 32k miles & seems well-kept. Is this chain oiler problem an issue with 2003s...

Question about durability of '03-'04 auto climate control systems

Hello Saturn friends. I have an SL2 I am going to be trading & am looking at a 2003 L200 with the automatic temperature control a/c system (the one where you set the temp via a dial & the system...

Re: Monroe Quik Struts - Squeak, Squeak, Squeak

fmlyofsix, please DO keep us posted on the Raybestos products. I have 144k on my '01 SL2 with the original struts. They seem to be getting a bit "harsh," but are neither leaking or causing the car...

Re: The definitive guide to Gen3 S-series instrument cluster bulb replacement

Ok, thanks. I would have thought that this question would have come up a lot earlier in this thread, given that its three years old. Too bad Saturn made it such a mystery in the first place by not...

Re: The definitive guide to Gen3 S-series instrument cluster bulb replacement

No, not the lights for the radio.... those are in the radio. I mean the lights that illuminate the heater/ac dials (NOT the LEDs in the defroster pushbutton, either). One of these lights also...

Re: Where to purchase T115/70R14 compact spare tire?

Guestman, thanks for the tip. Do you know if these are new or used tires? I am looking for new production as I already have an 11-year-old spare that is in "visually" good shape.

Re: Where to purchase T115/70R14 compact spare tire?

Re: Where to purchase T115/70R14 compact spare tire?

Thanks Bodee...... this is what I feared.

Exactly what sized rim/tire did you end up using?
It is almost impossible to believe that NO tire manufacturer makes that compact spare today. The...

Re: Belt tensioner recommendation needed

I agree with regard to the NAPA tensioner. Its crap. My AAA-approved garage put one on that went bad and 20-30 thousand miles later, I foolishly let them put on another. Never again!

Re: Wheres The Oil Go

What model year is this car? I got rid of a '96 SW2 that burned oil and was told I would not have the problem with the '01 SL2 I have now. Well, with 105k miles on it... I DO have that problem! ...

Congrats, Admiral. I would have don't just what you did. And you should have some piece of mind with the new gasket, chain & other parts. You did well!

Re: Why the "L" in the Saturn L series must stand for longevity

Is the timing chain problem with the 6-cyl or the 4-cyl engine.... or both? At what mileage is is to be replaced without fear of "going too far" and destroyin the engine?
