Re: 2008 Vue electrical problem

I left the cycling out. When she got to the gas station, she did turn it off and then restarted before refilling. Problem still there. Then fueled up, and problem went away.

Most efficient for...

2008 Vue electrical problem

A friend has had her '08 Vue for less than 2 weeks, and last week let the fuel tank go down to the point where the "low fuel" light should have come on. It did not, but several of her warning lights...

When was the last time you cleaned the throttle body anc IAC? The IAC is what maintains the idle where its supposed to be (as comanded by the PCM).

Re: New Front Brakes

You can also pry the piston bck into the bore using a screwdriver or other pry tool between the rotor and the old inner pad. This is made evn easier if you open the bleeder screw to prevent to MC...

Re: jumped the obd1 and cooling fan comes on?

For the hesitation, check that your plug wires are correct. See the diagram in the posting "Dead Cylinder" near down below this.

Re: Safe To Lift Car Here?

That looks a lot like the picture from the Saturn FSM, but I'd wager it's from SSIcarman's online technician's reference from GM/Saturn.

I've used it also since the Saturn FSM says it's good.

Re: Super brakes or Stupid Mechanic?

Shops that tell you that you don't need work you requested because it's not yet required are definite "keepers" in my book.

For the last 10 -15 years In general, the low cost of replacement rotors...

Re: Serpentine belts for beginners

On the two 96 DOHCs I used to have, to unload the tensioner took a 14mm wrench. I used the box end of a standard length Craftsman combo wrench, and it did not require unusual strength. When...

Re: Serpentine belts for beginners

P/S is power steering.

Definitely remove the wheel & splash shield(s).

A helper is nice, but if you're taller than about 5'2", you should be able to do it the way I do. Route the belt over all...

Re: Cheapest Place to get new A/C Compressor?

You don't want the cheapest, as it will most likely be a "Factory Air" brand PoS.

Go for the best value and get a quality remanufactured unit from a good supplier like ackits.com, mail order web...

Re: Driveshafts weeping fluid at transmission, should I be concerned?

Don't rush into doing anything. "Weeping" with no appreciable drop in fluid level is no reason to change the seals. If an axle shaft needs replacing, by all means replace the related seal. With...

Re: FS: New maint items, plus injectors

You've described the gasket set perfectly.

It looks like USPS charges $4.75 for 3 lbs. (my guesstimate), $5.30 for 4 lbs. from my zip (12077) to yours. So $5 is close enough. Basic postage, no...

Re: green liquid in the back seat

And your car was designed to use dexcool (orange in color), so if it has green coolant, the HC could have failed. How's your coolant level, and what color is it?

Re: Partial output of my alternator, Should I replace?

You've been on borrowed time for quite a while. Do it yourself your next day off for $70, or having it done when you're stuck and in a hurry will cost you $250 at an independent, $350 or more at a...
