Re: Almost a year w/o our Saturns

No salt down here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area to speak of. I remember when we moved here from Massachusetts in 1996 and had a Chevy station wagon. Had to get something done on the parking brake...

Almost a year w/o our Saturns

Hard to believe it's been almost a year since we stepped away from being a Saturn family after 19 years of ownership. While the SC2 and SL2 were replaced by a pair of 2018 Sonata Limited 2.0 Turbos...

Re: Anyone in Dallas area interested in my 99 SC2?

$2,000 is certainly a stiff price, as is the $2,700 in spite of the low mileage. I think we have a lot of dreamers around these parts. I think I did a KBB lookup on mine for a trade-in value and it...

Anyone in Dallas area interested in my 99 SC2?

After 19 years of Saturn ownership, we are closing out this chapter of our lives. The cars have been incredibly dependable and we've enjoyed the Saturn experience. The SaturnFans forum has been the...

Re: PAG oil - J/Y compressor

Thanks once more, fdryer. I'll add the oil, rotate the shaft, re-vacuum and then fill. Should be pretty easy to do.

Here is the link for the other thread about idle issues.

Re: PAG oil - J/Y compressor

Thanks for the reply and details.

When I replaced the other parts earlier this year, I put makeup oil in each component. There has been no catastrophic rupture, not now and not back when I hit...

PAG oil - J/Y compressor

As my A/C clutch appears to be failing on this 435K 99 SC2, I'm swapping out for a JY compressor of the same Zexel model. I took off the one that was on the car and drained 15cc of PAG oil out of it....

Re: Idle issues

Thanks for the feedback, guys. This is exactly why this site has been so valuable over the years in keeping these cars running. Will check things out and see about an update when resolve.

Idle issues

1999 SC2, manual, 434,000 miles

I had some idle issues last week and was getting P0405 and P0122. Cleaned EGR, cleaned the TB and the TPS connector, and replaced TPS, IACV and that didn't help....

Re: Help adding oil to evap core in car

I was able to inject the oil into mine on the second try. I didn't have my hose seated correctly the first time and made a mess. Second time I had the right diameter in there and it worked just fine....

Re: Dread Shifter Cable Loop Breakage... UGH! NEED HELP!

Glad you were able to make the repair and are back on the road. Had I read this post last week when you first had the problem, I would have suggested just depressing the clutch as that gets you into...

Re: Shed a tear, my last Saturn is gone.

Great word, Colonel! Glad it's found a good home and wasn't doomed to the boneyard. Your legacy will continue.

Re: Does anyone else find S- Series Seats uncomfortable?

I'm 6'0" 200# and my 1999 SC2 with leather seats fits me like a glove. Since I'm the original owner, maybe it just bonded with my body over the last nearly half-million miles. it's more comfy to me...

Re: Recommended Motor Mount Replacement?

Having managed warehouse logistics and programmed order systems in a previous life, I believe OE date on that box means "Order Entry" date, not "Original Equipment" date and the other info on the...

Re: She's Dead Jim

I know that "saying goodbye" feeling. Had an accident in September with a woman making a left in front of me and I tore up the front right corner. Ran over a huge semi retread on a dark interstate in...

Re: Belt Tensioner, Again

I assume you are using a 778 Belt? Parts stores are often listing a 780 as the correct size these days. I had one of those on and had an awful rattle, even with new pulleys. Changed to a Gates...

Re: 97 dohc sc2. Motor mount.

A better question might be, “Are they satisfactory?”

I have DEAs for all four mounts right now with the lowers all replaced last month. I’ve gotten 50,000 out of a DEA A2827 top mount before. Ride...

Re: Power steering return line...

Having just replaced a power steering pump, I believe that return line at the pump inlet is 3/8" I.D. If you can get some actual hydraulic line, that would assure the integrity of the hose for the...

Re: Driving on Ice

The strangest part of this is that we aren't getting this stuff in Dallas and north Texas. It's pretty much been south of us this season and Houston has had three winter precip events compared to our...

Even the best doctors consult with other seasoned practitioners. Forgive the original (and a tad hasty) misread as it's been a bit of a hectic day around here. Still, I'm glad to count you on the...

Re: PAG oil during A/C recharge

Well, everything is now replaced and buttoned back up. As for adding 3/4 ounce (22.5ml) of PAG oil to the condenser, I picked up a small bottle of “pour in” oil at Autozone, then went by Walgreens...

Re: PAG oil during A/C recharge

Thanks for this. I'll drop in a new receiver/drier this morning before I do the charge.

One other question...While various posts suggest adding the oil directly into the component (pour, syringe,...
