Modern cars are impressive. Was looking at the 2020 Honda CRV mpg numbers not long ago.

From an older car, my 2009 Caravan with 255 hp (191k miles on it at the time) - I was pulling this mpg...

water can complete a broken circuit or water pressure could have moved a wire slightly where it makes a better connections or cleaned off something that was ground...

I would think that if it was the belt tensioner, you'd still hear it at 2k rpm with no load.

If the fuel filter has over 120k miles or so, I'd check fuel pressure.

Might be worth checking MAP...
