Re: 2002 SL1 dead with no warning/symptoms

This one doesn't have anti-theft as far as I can tell.

Battery's full. No codes stored or pending.

I'm going to go down this route myself once I get the car back to the house. He was...

2002 SL1 dead with no warning/symptoms

Well here we go again. I picked up another Satty with 112k miles for dirt cheap because it needed a clutch. Did the clutch myself with help from a very nice write-up here on the site...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

Today I changed the clutch in my new (to me) '02 SL (119k). First time I've attempted a clutch, and it went quite smoothly with the stuffing the tranny in the fender-well technique found here...

Re: Service Engine Soon Light Not working.

I know this is a stupid question, but sometimes the most obvious issue is the problem: Is the MIL bulb simply blown and/or socket/wiring burnt or cut?

I guess the question really is: Does the MIL...

Re: 1996 Saturn Sl2 strange response to pressing the gas pedal

Does this sound to anybody else like a slipping clutch or other hydraulic problem? If the RPM's are spiking/increasing without a change of vehicle speed... Especially noticeable in higher gears...

Re: transmission errorn

Thank you Sir for the reply (Sorry for the delay in mine.).
I understand the differences between mechanical and hydraulics, etc.
I was just thinking that if the bushing wasn't lost yet, but worn,...

.. Just so that I may learn something as well..

Fdryer: You seem to bring a wealth of knowledge here, and make a very intelligent point/diagnosis for the OP's issue. As this thread progressed, and...

Re: 2001 sc1 performance

Oh come on now. My '99 SC1 is not great by any means and is totally stock and neglected but will at least bury the needle (at 110mph) and gain another 800 RPM after that... even WITHOUT the stickers!...

Re: transmission errorn

If he/she is "shifting gear to gear" I would ASSUME a manual tranny, and it's probably the notorious bushing acting up.

Re: 99 SC1 5spd Tranny/axle-housing fluid

.. or in my case they go years while screaming at you LOL. I was even feeling the vibe in the steering wheel the whole time. I've put now 32k miles on the car with (I'm guessing) the right side...

Re: 99 SC1 5spd Tranny/axle-housing fluid

lol It helps that it's a small community and everybody knows everybody. They all knew it was my car. Plus, the Highway guys that don't know me usually don't tend to bother vehicles with Fire and...

Re: 99 SC1 5spd Tranny/axle-housing fluid

So, I hate to be THAT GUY who digs up an old post from two years ago.. BUT, I kind-of left this thread hanging.

So here's an update:

I drove the car as-is for another 6-7 months. I bought a...

Re: Red Light/Braked...Car Stalled

I know it's a very old post, and I'm sorry to be the douche that revives it (somewhat) but looking back at it, I've noticed that the OP was a VERY successful troll. Actually go back to page 1 and...

Re: Random dimming/flickering of lights

Update on a very old post...
I decided to drop the investigation of this issue, as I bought a pickup for work purposes. The car sat outside in the parking lot for a year and a half untouched,...

Re: Random dimming/flickering of lights

Agreed, agreed and agreed lol. Was wondering if I'm looking for Delco on the alternator to see if it's OEM at least. (Or, who's name was likely to be on it coming out the factory door, as to be one...

Re: Random dimming/flickering of lights

It seems to happen at all rpms without difference; driving down the road at any speed/gear, sitting still idling and sitting still revving. I've had the car only two years, and got no service...

Question Random dimming/flickering of lights

Here's a new one to add to the list of things my SC is doing... In the advent of colder weather approaching us, I've noticed my interior illumination has been flickering at random as have to a much...

Re: Radio

Interestingly enough, GM used this same set of connectors in the full size pickups at least back in '88 to maybe '94?/95? (whenever they changed the interior designs). At that time, the actual stereo...

Yes it's been a while since I've been back here, but still curious, have you found the issue? At the point where the thread left off, it was beginning to go beyond my scope of knowledge specific to...

Re: Wiper motor erratic behavior

Old post update: Lubed wiper arms, no difference. I never heard the wiper motor struggling anyway, but was far easier than tearing into the motor assembly and is never a bad thing to do for any...

Re: 99 SC1 5spd Tranny/axle-housing fluid

Old thread here at this point, but for those still curious, I've since completely drained the tranny fluid, threw a couple quarts of cheap-o (NAPA brand) ATF in there, drove for about 20-ish miles...

Re: Anyone Removed Low Beam Deflector Shield

I couldn't agree more. Except my point was rear and side illumination. I could certainly be wrong, but all DRL's I've seen only light the highbeams. I'd hate to get rear-ended by somebody because...

Re: SL1 wont go over 55 mph

Another thought for the "Things to check list":

Maybe your catalytic converter is plugged. That would prevent the engine from being able to "breath". You'll find less and less power the higher the...
