Re: oem tstat date code question

Use your IR reader to tell you what the t-stat housing temps are instead of guessing and asking about the temperature gauge needle position. Your IR reader is much more accurate and is better at...

Re: Seized alternator or much worse?

Some learn from mistakes others made to avoid repeating history. Others don't and are bound to repeat it......... If this young man has to pay for his mistakes, he won't repeat it again.

I love...

Re: question on SL2 fuel filter

Despite what others here say, leave the OBD II emissions self test program alone, especially if you're considering NYS inspection soon. The error code popped up from starting without a fuel pump...

Re: Seized alternator or much worse?

Magicman, who tried turning the crankshaft? Those unfamiliar with engines may not know what forces are required to manually turn over an engine by hand and mistakenly assume the engine seized. If you...

Re: Spray painting in winter - bad idea?

I disagree with spray cans clogging up in a freezing enclosure like an unheated garage in freezing temps. The can at room temperature will spray its contents still at room temperatures since its...

Re: 2008 Saturn Vue Torque Converter Advice

Torque converters, as a rule, never fail under normal use conditions and rarely fail in extreme conditions like continuous off road use. Are you certain your torque converter failed when it's likely...

Re: 2003 Saturn L300 Tranny error codes

The glove box in every car, truck and suv are owner's manuals to help owners become familiar with a vehicle, suggest maintenance intervals, describe warranty, etc. Service manuals are too large to...

Re: question on SL2 fuel filter

Sorry, I meant stoplight.

As you can see with your setup, phone on a cradle, Torque and bt turned on, your car already succeeded in meeting egr parameters. One more parameter to go..........during...

Re: question on SL2 fuel filter

If this helps, I can hear my fuel evap solenoid near the fuel filler when stopped at lights. Some time after driving around, presuming the engine warmed up, stopped at a light I hear a distinctive...

Re: 2007 Saturn Vue error codes

OBD II readers are supposedly universal to every vehicle in the USA with OBD II since 1996. In reality, early readers were sketchy - work fine in one vehicle then cone up empty in another with no...

Re: 2002 l200 P0340 Issue

As shown in the wiring diagram, the pink wires are in parallel for power to each injector. Ground is switched to each injector by (presumed) power transistors from the pcm. As long as power isn't...

Re: 2003 Saturn L300 Tranny error codes

From the service manual;

When the TCM detects an invalid gear range, DTC P1810 sets. DTC P1810 is a type B DTC.

When the TCM detects a gear range other than PARK/NEUTRAL indicated at...

Re: Long term use of dex 6?

Check resistance of the tcc solenoid (the one blowing the 10 amp fuse). In order to blow a 10a fuse, resistance would have to be below 1.45 ohms (using 14.5v in calculations) to draw more than 10...

Re: 2002 l200 P0340 Issue

Excellent troubleshooting! Are you working from service manuals to pinpoint which injector wires are involved in cylinder#4? Using the other working injector circuits to compare with #4 may be...

Please don't jump to conclusions unless you read the entire reply. If you didn't read it in its entirety, then you missed verbiage ensuring battery, battery cables and their connections are clean,...

Re: left front suspension clunk on speed bump

Having an impact wrench and previous experience is all you need along with tools collected over the years to work on anticipated problems. Expect the worst and prepare for it.

Re: 2007 saturn ion 2 speedometer/odometer issue

If you can remove the instrument panel, you can check for evidence of repairs; screws with paint removed as signs of someone removing hardware, wiring harnesses bent a certain way and seemingly out...

Re: How do you (test) Bypass Neutral Safety Switch?

If your battery isn't giving false voltages, did you try a boost from another car? This can reveal a battery that's marginal in freezing temps and may need replacing or at least testing from stores...

Re: How do you (test) Bypass Neutral Safety Switch?

Yes you bypassed the nss correctly. What you haven't done or mentioned was if the battery is discharged/dead or mileage to help determine if the starter is worn out. Are you in freezing temperatures...

Re: 2002 l200 P0340 Issue

Re: 2002 l200 P0340 Issue

If a compression test was performed, what are the actual numbers for each cylinder? If well below 185 psi then low compression may be causing cylinder#4 misfire due to either a burned exhaust valve...

Re: 2007 saturn ion 2 speedometer/odometer issue

If the car was bought from a dealer or used car lot, bring it back for repairs immediately. You should have some kind of warranty to insist that you didn't buy the car with a new problem. If bought...
