Re: AC "Tube" replacement? (discontinued pn: 21031290)

No, it's this part: https://www.wholesalegmpartsonline.com/products/Saturn/2002/SC2/TUBE-AIR-CONDITIONING-AC-Refrigerant-All-Metal/2953258/21031290.html (#19). The long tube between the expansion...

Re: AC "Tube" replacement? (discontinued pn: 21031290)

Thank you, I'm considering calling a few local junkyards and seeing if they have any saturns in the yard and if they can pull this tube for me...closet pick-n-pull is 2 hours away.

Wouldn't...

AC "Tube" replacement? (discontinued pn: 21031290)

Well hopefully the third time's the charm finding this damn AC leak. Unfortunately, where I found it on the "Tube. Air Conditioning (All Metal)" (PN: 21031290) is discontinued. I guess a pick-n-pull...

Re: How many starts until p0410 will clears itself?

I'm two miles south of the GWB in NJ so that makes sense...you're suggesting before I spend $50 on a new diverter, epoxy+por-15 might do it? I'll definitely give that shot. thank you

Re: How many starts until p0410 will clears itself?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's the Diverter/combination valve..it did not hold the vacuum pressure test and upon closer inspection it seems pretty obvious why. Don't know how I missed that the first time...

Re: How many starts until p0410 will clears itself?

Yeah, no it's very helpful. I especially appreciate the diagnostic flow chart. I'm going to try the vacuum pressure test on the combination valve today since I had read in other threads they...

Re: How many starts until p0410 will clears itself?

True (and thank you) but this is more long the lines of what I was asking:

It didn't, so I guess I didn't [repair the problem].

Re: How many starts until p0410 will clears itself?

Lol that is a lot of detailed information that is too much for me to get into right now. Will look closer tomorrow. Thank you

How many starts until p0410 will clears itself?

Topic. I diagnosed using the richpin video, everything seemed to work normally the only issue I found was when I took the air pump hose off of the diverter valve it spit water out when the car...

Re: Alternative to r12 mineral oil for ac discharge hose gasket?

Ty, I'll double check that but after I had the system recharged last year oil leaked all over the compressor from the discharge hose/gasket connection.

Re: Alternative to r12 mineral oil for ac discharge hose gasket?

Ok thank you for the quick reply. I should be able to find that...The CVS baby oil does list mineral oil as it's ingredient, but there is also "fragrance" which could have caused issues.

I'm not...

Alternative to r12 mineral oil for ac discharge hose gasket?

I can't find r12 mineral oil anywhere to lubricate the o-rings. I think I used baby oil as an alternative last year, but the gasket/system leaked quickly (my mistake for believing the ac shop guy...

Re: What exactly does replacing the AC drier entail?

That does make sense and worse the area is difficult to see without removing the headlight. I think it should be ok (1/8" was an understatement, it was more like 1/4"). I even trimmed the corner...

Re: What exactly does replacing the AC drier entail?

In the end I sawzall-ed back just a touch of the frame. Nothing important I don't think hahah. Just an 1/8" gave the hose pently of room. Hopefully nothing else happened to the aluminum while I...

Re: What exactly does replacing the AC drier entail?

Well, the new one from NAPA/AC Delco was the same one I got from Amazon...The NAPA guys looked at my old one and said it was kinked improperly, possibly from a bad motor mount or something, I have to...

Re: What exactly does replacing the AC drier entail?

Yeah, somethings fishy lol.

1. The bracket is welded at funky angle
2. The bottom of the drier is much less pointed than the original
3. The hoses are slighlty different lengths and manufacters...

Re: What exactly does replacing the AC drier entail?

I think Amazon may have sent me the wrong drier?

Look at the bends in the drier-to-condenser line. The new one is much less pronounced, and may have only bent a touch after I struggled to get...

Re: What exactly does replacing the AC drier entail?

Haha, honestly probably because so many of your posts on the subject have advised that AC work is over most DIYers heads. The repair and the evacuation seem straightforward enough. I assumed that it...

Re: What exactly does replacing the AC drier entail?

Thanks guys, that's basically what I assumed but the video I watched on the vacuum process had both gauges hooked up to their respective ports and the guy opened and closed them independently so I...

Re: What exactly does replacing the AC drier entail?

Damn eBay sellers taking forever to ship. My 3 gauge manifold is still a few days away. I'd like to make the repair and vacuum leak test before I go away this weekend...

Can I vacuum check each...

Re: What exactly does replacing the AC drier entail?

Ty, maybe I've got the wrong term. I meant when the refrigerant is recovered by the shop, before the repair.

Re: What exactly does replacing the AC drier entail?

One last question, when I have the shop evacuate the system...how are they going to return it to me? I'm guessing empty/atmospheric pressure, which could allow some moisture to enter the system, so I...

Re: What exactly does replacing the AC drier entail?

Thank you to you both. Yeah, I don't think there was a catastrophic leak/hose rupture that would warrant adding an additional 3oz of PAG oil to the system. (I found the FSM section on adding PAG...
