Re: Unknown cable

Both the I/P and forward lamp harnesses run out of there.

The reason I asked for better pictures is you can not tell what they are from that picture so I decided to not speculate on the extent of...

Re: 5th Gear swap nuts

The threadlocker begins to lose strength in the 200F range and is completely destroyed at 500F. Not necessary deceptive advertising but somewhat misleading. To obtain the highest thread locking...

Re: 5th Gear swap nuts

All that is required is to completely clean the shaft of remaining thread locker, it is not easy to remove, and final clean with 100% isopropyl alcohol or acetone. Same for the nut. Then use Locktite...

Re: Unknown cable

IF it is the forward lamp harness then a 97 or 98 model year Sedan or Wagon will fit and function. What else is trashed depends on inspection.

Re: Unknown cable

That sounds/looks like the forward lamp harness from the UHJB. Likely you will have to replace the UHJB and the harness, can not tell for sure without more decent pictures, connector on the far end....

Re: 5th Gear swap nuts

There have been serveral volumes written on how to recycle the nut once. Double nutting when soaked in ATF will not do much more than a single nut. A single cleaned used nut and a cleaned shaft along...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

No link to original post makes a How-To accomplish this specific removal exercise close to impossible.

What you have to do is counter balance the inward force of the diving tool(nut driver or...

Re: How to check oil pressure relief valve?

Saturn part number start with 21, the entire engine is a Saturn assembly. A 12 is GM generic. Any part that fits will be a 21 or 12 except some clips and fasteners.

Re: up shift light on all the time even when idie

Probably. I think we answered the correct PCM question previously so a replacement 96 cluster might be the answer.

Re: up shift light on all the time even when idie

Is it the correct cluster?

Did the harness have a connector for the PCM?

Re: What Does Factory Exhaust System Look Like?

That will work IF you use a bit of dish soap in the spray bottle and be observant for any trace of bubbles.

Re: What Does Factory Exhaust System Look Like?

That will work and you do not need a tight connection at the tail pipe as a couple inches of water pressure will show the leaks.

Re: What Does Factory Exhaust System Look Like?

You should not replace the front pipe. A sawzall will remove the cat if required so a proper replacement can be welded into place.

Leak check.

Re: How to check oil pressure relief valve?

Block of OAK and a pry bar underneath. Disassemble the oil pump completely out of the cover and then heat the relief valve and surrounding aluminum up to 200F or so, relief will push out easily.

Re: Clutch hydraulics sticking...I think

There is no pilot bearing in these cars. The throwout bearing is in continual light contact with the clutch diaphragm fingers and with enough wear they can hang up in the released position. The TO...

Re: How to check oil pressure relief valve?

The part Waiex191 linked is the bypass relief that is used in all s-series cars. There is NO way to test just the pressure setting with the valve in place.

Take the timing cover off and clean it...

Re: Computer fitment

Yes but you will be happier with a DOHC 95 computer as the SOHC will initially try to run lean.

Re: Clutch hydraulics sticking...I think

That is the clutch cover with soft engage feature and if that series of wedges hangs up the clutch will not engage. This is the thing you have to wind up when you install it and those 3 fingers with...

Re: Silly Electrons

Generally a battery swap does take long enough to get a good cold start. Most of these failures trace to a chronic low battery condition and a hard start drops voltage low enough to cause data stream...
