Re: Need help: squeak/whine somewhere in the front wheel

Roman,

Two things that I would look at. 1. Seeing as you have an AWD.. look at the center support bearing on the rear driveshaft. Although seeing as you are certain that it is coming...

Re: Front Suspension Repair Help Needed (Rip-off?)

Cheese,
I am going to respectfully disagree with Atkovi on this one. You are dealing with rubber bushings that are 14 years old.... they are quite likely going bad. If you go back and look for...

Re: Oil Consumption Thoughts

Altkovi and all..
Again, please read the links in my earlier post. Everything is explained in them, including the whole tolerances issues. And I am know engineer or designer, but it seems to...

Re: Oil Consumption Thoughts

Wow,
Some of you folks are not reading everything I wrote, or not comprehending it.
First off, I only put my opinion in at the very end of the original post when I talk about the engine...

Re: Oil Consumption Thoughts

GM7,
I want you to realize, I am not trying to bash the engines anymore. This is more general information. I bought the 08 Equinox without doing proper research. Had I seen that the 08 Vue and...

Re: Front end clunks or rattles.

As I stated earlier, look at the under dash U-joint in the steering shaft column. I had a thunking in there on mine. Also, the brake pad retainer clips and pins. I finally got my old Vue silent in...

Re: Oil Consumption Thoughts

GM7,
I had an 08 Equinox Sport that was the problem child, not my 07 Vue.
And the Terrain I have, straight up hauls @as!!! It is the later 300 h.p. version.
And, if you look at my...

Re: Oil Consumption Thoughts

Atikovi,
I guess 'DESLUDGE' is the wrong word. More, DECARBONIZE, the tops of the piston, the rings, and the cylinder walls. Which then allows the rings to seal better leading to less oil...

Re: 2008 Carrier Bearing

Jtyson,
Did you look for 'center support bearing'??? That is what the bearing in the middle of the drive shaft is called.

Oil Consumption Thoughts

Hey all,
Just wanted to share something that I have put together. I also want to thank Satlite440 and GM7 for putting up with me a few months ago. I have traded in the Equinox Sport for a 14...

Re: Front end clunks or rattles.

At,
Check under the dashboard and look at the U-joint in the steering shaft. Also, check all the parts on brakes..... Look at the brake pad retainer clips and the pin bushings. These were the...

Re: Driveshaft - good advice for those who want a Vue AWD

Roman,
First off, get 4 good, laser balanced tires. Then take it to the best alignment shop that you can find and have them do a 4 wheel alignment, after they go over your complete suspension...

Re: Driveshaft - good advice for those who want a Vue AWD

Roman,
Well, I was going to say that replacing the center support bearing isn't that hard and requires no special tools. I did mine with a vice, good sized C Clamp, and some punches. But you...

Re: rear spoiler removal

Honda,
. According to AllData, there are ONLY three bolts to remove the spoiler on my 08 Equinox Sport. And it is VERY similar to the 08 Vue. I would provide a picture, but my phone is not letting...

Re: What's causing this vibration???

Cheesesteak,
Have you looked at the center support bearing, changed the fluid in the RDM, or in the transfer case? How about wheel bearings? Another couple of things that I would look at,...

Re: Recently bought a 2005 Vue

Kkl,
On the transmission... Take it to a Honda dealership. You may have to raise the hood and make them identify the engine and trans before they talk to you, they did that to me, but the drain...

Re: 2003 Saturn Vue Front End Rattle - Replaced Lots of Parts

Koko,
Look under the dashboard and see if the u-joint under there is loose. Also look at the brakes. The slide pins may need to be replaced.... And greased. Something else are the brake pad...

Re: Recently bought a 2005 Vue

KK,
How many miles are on it and FWD or AWD??? .... with the V6 you have a Honda 3.5 engine and matching MJ7 FWD, MJ8 AWD, trans. These are about a bulletproof combo and Honda is still using...

Re: trans check, fingers crossed please

Yeah,
That didn't work. The old school tech who took it for a test drive, and I was with him, insists that the trans feels rock solid. So maybe I am going to get lucky on that one. He did...

Re: What we learned from the 3, 2006 Vues to make them quiet

IT,
I know what you mean on the difference in suspensions between the base and the RL. I totalled my 07 Vue Base, and ended up with an 08 Equinox Sport, 08 RL, as the replacement. The lower...

Re: What we learned from the 3, 2006 Vues to make them quiet

IT,
Great write up of things to look at. It, combined with my one some time ago about how to silence a noisey front end, makes it possible for us to have nice quiet cars. I do have one minor...

Re: Failed mode actuator

Joe,
If the mode actuator itself is dead, it will need to be replaced. Sometimes the parts actually wear out and a reset doesn't fix anything, as the parts themselves are just plain worn out. ...
