Re: Bad Gas Mileage

I've heard that a faulty O2 sensor can mess up the air/fuel mix in the engine and thus make it run inefficiently. That's just a possibility and you might want mechanics to check it out.

Re: Looking at buying a 2005 ION 2, anything I should know?

Add me to the list of those who prefer an instrument pod in the center too.

Re: Looking at buying a 2005 ION 2, anything I should know?

There's a possibility of an ignition switch malfunction in cold weather. When you start up, it may refuse to crank then force you to wait a few minutes before trying again. Though it may have been...

Re: 07 ION 2.4L fuel mileage

2.4L manual sedan.

Lifetime fuel economy 35,3 MPG, 6,67 l/100 Km. My commute is mostly highways but I have a bit of congestion on my return trip. In suburban areas, I can get 25 to 28 MPG, in road...

Re: Who do you blame mostly for Saturn's burial?

The WSJ spent about two lines mentionning how GM didn't fund Saturn but blasted the UAW the rest of the article, and they didn't demonstrate how the UAW was responsible as they claimed. The UAW did...

Re: Mailing back GM badges to GM!

I fail to see why it's so "irrational". People have the right (and are right IMO) to blame GM for their treatment of Saturn and for feeling they've been screwed by GM over it closing. If they want to...

Re: RPM @ 65 mph

Nice. Thanks for posting the link (even though you didn't put up the image) I always was curious about it as the ratings weren't very impressing but the S-series' performance was nonetheless pretty...

Re: New Renault Fluence Provides More Insight into What Could Become Saturn

Volkswagen did very well in selling a third world car in Canada. The City Golf is a big seller in Canada.

But the thing you have to remember is that this car is basically a Mégane of the old...

Re: New Renault Fluence Provides More Insight into What Could Become Saturn

Actually, a Korean-made French car is more like it. The Renault Fluence is basically the older generation Mégane tweaked a bit and made in Korea to be sold in poorer markets (eastern europe).

Re: who thinks

Could we end this please?

Let's take this even half seriously now. The S-series was a car on a platform designed in the 80s, with an engine designed in that time frame too. That it lasted as long...

Re: Report: Sun to Set on Saturn in Canada

:) Ah, the fun of automatic translations, how they slaughter other languages.

While in English "screwed" has two meaning, one using a screwdriver and the other using a tool that half the...

Re: Report: Sun to Set on Saturn in Canada

As it stands, they've just lost me and probably a lot of Saturn owners. They've been wishy-washy for over a year about Saturn, and especially in Canada. All I know I learned from SaturnFans, GM never...

Re: Motor Trend: Penske Hopes to "Use a Competitor

Nissan has put CVTs in hundreds of thousands of its cars (millions even) since a few years back, more if you include the Japanese market. They haven't had more problems with them than with...

Re: Roger Penske's Saturn Play is a Stroke of Genius, Creates a "Post-Modern" Auto Co

It wasn't just the "rags", the feedback was nearly all positive from what I can see. The worst reviews basically said "it comes very close to the best in the segment, but they're not there yet",...

Re: Roger Penske's Saturn Play is a Stroke of Genius, Creates a "Post-Modern" Auto Co

They've made mistakes, but a lot less, and they've managed to keep their eyes on what's really important: their bread and butter cars. They followed the trends, but they've made sure that they always...

Re: Roger Penske's Saturn Play is a Stroke of Genius, Creates a "Post-Modern" Auto Co

Never said it was a second coming. This journalist and others like him don't say only that the Saturn S-series wasn't the best car ever, they say it wasn't even remotely competitive. They're...

Re: Roger Penske's Saturn Play is a Stroke of Genius, Creates a "Post-Modern" Auto Co

Am I the only one who's tired of the revisionnism surrounding the S-series? Every contemporary review or comparison said it was highly competitive at the time with Toyota's and Honda's offerings,...

Re: Autobytel: 93% of Saturn Lineup Qualifies for Cash-for-Clunkers Voucher

What source do you have? The latest news I have is that they are trying to pass through a bill to allow 2 more billions for the program, but it's held up a bit in the Senate.

Re: Autobytel: 93% of Saturn Lineup Qualifies for Cash-for-Clunkers Voucher

Towing is more a factor of the chassis of the vehicle than of the engine in it. For example, all versions of the Grand Vitara are rated to be able to tow 3 000 lbs, there is no difference between the...

Re: Report: Penske Automotive Group Evaluating Renault Samsung SM3 as Possible New Sa

Also, the Astra failed partly because of lack of support from GM, partly because it's just available as an hatchback, and Americans hate hatchbacks for the most part and partly because the Astra's...

Re: Report: Penske Automotive Group Evaluating Renault Samsung SM3 as Possible New Sa

Samsung uses gas engines sourced from Nissan, and they already make the 1.8L and 2.0L for the SM5. Since their total sales a year are about 170 000 to 200 000, if Penske offers them the possibility...

Re: Saturn to rebadge Nissans? (not Samsung)

Don't think that's because of originality or whatever (though I'm pretty sure Hyundais were always derivative), much has been said about Hyundai making great progress on their cars recently,...
