I would take a look at the IAC/TPS area. Either clogged with carbon stuff, or that the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve is going bad. Not much money and not hard to replace either or both of them.

Slay, if you remove the ECTS connector and its full of corrosion, then YES, replace the connector....there is no pigtail per say, but you would need to cut off the old wiring, splice in the new...

^^^^ Intake gasket, what in his description points to that as an issue?
His idle has settled to 1K...more likely the ECTS as mentioned earlier.

Had you taken it to the transmission shop because of the reverse slam issue?
Red is good, and it should smell sweet, not burnt. But, we don't know if the transmission fluid was put in the last fluid...

History on the car; when was the last time the transmission fluid and filter were changed?

That's your first line of defense AND easiest cure.

Only use Dexron III compatible, not Dex IV or VI...
