Re: Oil Filter Housing

The key is not over tightening. Back in 2015 I bought my youngest a 2003 L300 as his first car. First thing I wanted to do was change the oil filter. Of course the filter housing top had been put on...

Re: Replace Brake Lines??

Ask the mechanic to show you the 'worn' brake lines, then you know precisely what he is talking about. If you are not familiar with brake lines, quite simply they are a series of metal tubes that...

Re: Would you change your 2001 SL1 for 2007 Jaguar S-Type?

My 5 cents.

As a Brit I have a certain patriotic attachment to Jaguars. They are not without their faults as US built cars are not without their faults. We do not live in a perfect world. Enough...

Re: 2005 Saturn L300 TCM Disconecting U0101 Code

Pierrot,

The guys car is a 2005 L300. I do believe that by that year as the L series was being put out to pasture ALL L series were called L300's, even if they had the 4 or 6 cylinder engine.

Re: Power steering fluid...

At the risk of appearing cynical on your post, you ask what you should use as power steering fluid and then list 4 products; one of which it titled 'power steering fluid'!

Doesn't that sorta...

Re: 97 SL2 - Bad Shaking Between 30-80mph

If you jack up the car and remove the pins and pa, you can try and spin the hub. If it still has resistance, then it is NOT your brakes, but the bearing.

If it spins freely then you have isolated...

Re: 97 SL2 - Bad Shaking Between 30-80mph

It could be one of several issues. It's gonna be something in either steering, suspension or drivetrain.

Steering
Check your tie rod ends for wear. If they are worn you will be able to flex them...

Re: Where is the brake fluid leaking?

I have no clue whether the Saturn of this vintage has a servo assistance feature but if it has I was thinking the same as you, that the Master Cylinder is leaking into the Vacuum Servo.

On Mr....

Re: saturn l200 issues

This may seem like an obvious but often overlooked. How old is the battery? and disconnect the battery and clean and reconnect securely both battery terminals.

It is surprising what gremlins can...

Re: Replacement Shifter and Parking Brake Boots

They are made from polyurethane coated cloth to look like soft leather. The problem is over time the polyurethane separates from the cloth and then they look just plain bad. My son's l300 suffered...

If you are, nothing could be more simple.

Simply lift the...

Re: Front end shaking upon fast acceleration.

I tried to explain the 'tramping' phenomana earlier.

We have all see the rwd cars spinning their wheels when they do a burnout. That is about torque and inertia. The torque is the spinning of the...

Re: p0410 Secondary Air Injection, Rusted Bolts Attached To The Exhaust Manifold

Many garages release rusted bolts especially on manifolds by applying extreme heat using oxy-acetylene. Another method is to use extreme cold. You can buy a rattle can of this from Henkel or its...

All vehicles will suffer traction issues when you give it gas from a...

Re: Flywheel Inspection Plate ? 2.2 non-Eco Tech.

If you know you have a cracked flexplate, why not fix the problem rather than trying to tighten bolts that ultimately do nothing for your problem.

My wife had a 1996 Chrysler Sebring V6 a few...

Re: more serious - two right-frnt flats within 120mi?

Smacking curbs is never recommended. If after smacking the curb, you felt vibrations you have probably done some damage to the steering set up or worse the suspension.

If there is damage to how...

Re: Extremely Wierd coolant issue

Pressure Test. Either do yourself or get a garage to do it for you. Much safer than trying to ID leaks with boiling hot coolant around.

Essentially air is pumped into the cooling system when the...
