Re: Walker Muffler Fail

I wasn't impressed with my first Walker SS either. Never did anything about the warranty because I lost the paperwork

Second one, I put on several coats of Hi Temp POR15 on both the muffler and...

Re: Looking at 2000 SW Wagon w/101k miles for $2000

That's a good point, actually. Everything from basic maintenance (oil changes) to complete engine rebuilds are pretty well documented.

Usually, there are pictures/How Tos, and quite often,...

Re: EGR valve problems

They're saying the same thing but from opposite sides :).

Signmaster: if it runs rough blocked, there is no change even though you've taken the EGR out of the equation so it must be something...

Re: Siblings Separated at Birth

That actually reminds me a bit of 3rd gen dashes (of course, it's a little hard to have a truly distinctive dash) :)

Looks like a separate clock above the center air vents . . . might be...

Re: Looking at 2000 SW Wagon w/101k miles for $2000

different people are really peeved about different things :)

Me, I put groceries in the back seat. Weird, I know. Even with the minivan, I open the side sliding doors and put groceries there.

Re: 98 SC2 project. Drive for now, maybe rebuild later.

Thanks, OldNuc - I have both as a result of your previous recommendations :D
(got powdered mica from Franklin Armory years ago, just ordered the dry silicone from Amazon when I realized I had $40 in...

Re: Saturn Craigslist Deal of the Day!

Enough slamming, and (take the following with a grain of salt because I never worked on the TAAT, just what I remember reading about it) the reverse input shaft nut (?) gets loosened, needs to be...

Re: Looking at 2000 SW Wagon w/101k miles for $2000

Call around for dealership pricing on programming the key fob. One place quoted $50, another $35 (both are Chevy dealers).

I wouldn't' doubt some places will charge an hour labor at $130 for...

Re: Siblings Separated at Birth

I see I'm not the only one that thinks this would be fun :D

Japanese (and Korean) styling has been very much "inspired" by other design for many years. :)

Re: 98 SC2 project. Drive for now, maybe rebuild later.

That dry silicone you mentioned earlier? Or powdered mica?

You know, I'd been trying to think of a way to glue reflectix onto the door, to replace the plastic sheet/insulation that the doors...

Re: 98 SC2 project. Drive for now, maybe rebuild later.

You could use Reflectix as sound deadener on the doors, to replace the insulation. Going to do something about noise in my car eventually

Cool stuff, thanks for posting that. Downloaded the PDF for the subframe nut thing as that may be in my future :D
Incredible that they patented the plastic valve covers

Re: Valve Cover Question

I think I'd read somewhere that those covers came with gray RTV on them from the factory. You'd want to search to double check, though.

Re: The 98 SW2 is Totaled

Yeah, figured that would probably be the case. No harm in throwing it out there, though :)

I think OP has an EGR problem but does not want to clean it, looks like OP wants a different make of EGR, maybe?

Ever cleaned out the EGR...

Re: Bonehead Saturn Craigslist find of the day

$3,500 for this? That hood is probably one of the reasons the wife wants to sell. Probably embarrassed by the mismatch. My wife is OK with dents, but mismatched panels would driver her wild (not...

Re: The 98 SW2 is Totaled

Just throwing this out there . . . :)

I just checked Greyhound and it looks like it would be roughly $100 to ship by bus. No idea how much your recycler pays, but I'm guessing you'd be ahead by...

I ran a solid rubber Anchor aftermarket mount for about 8 years / 100k miles. Still in good shape. Avoid the ones with the frowny face on the fronts; they take care of the vibrations but don't seem...

Re: Replaced intake manifold; just one problem now

What is the MAP showing for pressure with engine off, cold (assuming your reader shows live data)?

If you still have it, try cleaning the original EGR and replacing that. I don't think it is your...
