Re: Hot front brakes

Did you look at my photo? It's pretty obvious that clamp was squeezing the line closed. Apparently they weren't completely squeezed shut from the git-go. Maybe the rubber swells over time until it...

Re: Wheel bearing problem?

Yes - I've had them all fail on my '03 and '07. The first sign of a bad wheel bearing is the humming or droning sound. They typically don't cause any shimmy or vibration....

Re: Wheel bearing problem?

Yes - I had this happen on my '07. Turned out to be bad brake hose. A dragging brake pad would heat up and warp the rotor which caused some serious shimmy. Maybe your problem is intermittent...

Re: Hot front brakes

No speculation Robert. It's a proven fact that the hoses are to blame. Those hose support clamps were over-crimped at the factory . . ....

Re: Automatic Transmission problem 95 SL1

Harsh shifting usually happens when the Line Pressure Solenoid doesn't send the correct pressure to the clutches. Intermittent issues are often caused by a flaky electrical connection. You might...

Re: P0732, P0733, P0734 question. It's Baaaack!

If you want to go through the trouble of hooking up a gauge, we can provide instructions for checking your actual Line Pressure.

Re: Stubborn wheel bearing hub assembly 2005 Vue, help!

Once upon a time I dremeled out the cable pass-thru hole until it was big enough for the connector to fit thru. Those automotive engineers definitely want to discourage us shade-tree mechanics!

Re: P0732, P0733, P0734 question

Probably didn't do any damage and the "jerking" might not be tranny-related. These 3 codes are an indication of Low Line Pressure. (all 3 clutches slipping due to low fluid). Getting a good reading...

Re: Valve Cover Gasket Replacement 2003 VUE

My T'stat went bad at about 96k mi., so I went ahead and did the Timing Belt, Water Pump, Acc. Belt/Tensioner and Plugs while the Intake was off. At the time, I didn't know those Cam Cover Gaskets...

Re: 2002 SL2 Slamming In All Gears

Glad to hear that one Solenoid fixed your problem. Where did you get a Solenoid from?

Like billr said, probably not a concern if just the Connector is getting wet and the fluid is not...

Re: 2002 SL2 Slamming In All Gears

Probably not doing any damage unless you detect excess clutch slippage.

Re: 2002 SL2 Slamming In All Gears

This sounds like you have no 1st gear. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear solenoids must ALL be energized for 1st gear. Have you checked all 3 TRS Fuses?

I would just replace that Solenoid. I got...

Re: Valve body replacement - drop transmission?

Yes - they are all the same. If you were to order a new one from say Amazon, you would order GM # 21003344. The fact that all your colors don't match suggests someone has been in there previously.

Re: Valve body replacement - drop transmission?

These Solenoids can be good electrically, but still have mechanical problems. The LP takes the most abuse being that it is constantly pulse-width-modulated. Some folks have had luck just swapping...
