Re: I need a 2nd opinion on this Astra

Looks like a decent buy to me. I would own my Astra all over again for that price.

Re: Error code P2138

I haven't tried that yet, but am skeptical since it has been over a week since the last rain. The connector going to the pedal is in good shape though.

I'll take a look at the UEC if it comes...

Re: Error code P2138

Well the throttle pedal code is back again. It happened twice more in traffic last week, so I replaced the entire throttle pedal with sensor with a genuine GM AC Delco (P/N 09193186). Rockauto has...

Re: Airflow issue? Please help.

You don't need to remove the TB, you can just remove the air pipe and push the butterfly valve open. You won't damage it. Spray some TB cleaner on a rag and wipe both sides of the valve and around...

Re: Cutting access port for fuel pump. Yes? No?

I don't see any problem with cutting an access port, as long as you're very careful not to plunge too deep with your cutting tool into the tank. This is common on many other cars. Hope the fuel pump...

Re: Alternator replacement

Here's some more info on how to do this job yourself. I did it myself and it wasn't too hard.

Re: Astra 16" mags, studs and TPMS

I upgraded my steelies to alloys as well. You will need slightly longer lug bolts (not lug nuts) since the flange for the alloys is thicker than the steel.

Re: Front Struts and hardware availability issues

Got my Eibach Pro-Kit springs (1" drop) and Bilstein B4 shocks installed! I loosely followed the Haynes manual and this write-up (http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=191380) but the job...

Re: Front Struts and hardware availability issues

My experience with Demon Tweeks was a lot smoother, but only because they had the parts in stock. Order placed Wednesday, parts on my porch Monday. Luckily I did not have to deal with their customer...

Re: Front Struts and hardware availability issues

I believe the Bilstein B4 shocks and struts are "OEM" spec. The box has "OEM quality" printed all over it. They're even black like OEM.

Re: Bilstein Shocks and struts

For sale: lightly used B8 rear shocks. Less than 2,000 miles on them. I am switching to B4's because they are too stiff for me. Will ship from 30344.

Re: Bilstein Shocks and struts

I got mine from Summit Racing. They fit perfectly, just stiff as hell for my rough local roads. Body roll is completely gone though, making for some good cornering!

Re: Bilstein Shocks and struts

I just swapped out my heavily-worn rear shocks for the B6 and though it handles much sportier now, the ride is pretty jarring and rough. Maybe I'm just getting older, but I wish I got the B4's. I...

Dashboard Lights Recurring - Battery and Vehicle

Has anyone gotten these lights after starting the engine? Does not affect how the car runs or drives, and goes away after re-starting. This is happening more and more frequently now. 119k miles on a...

Re: Astra Oil Capacity? How much do you guys use?

I pour in 4 1/2 quarts, then check it every time I get gas. I've never needed to add more than 1/2 quart between oil changes. 115k miles, full synth every 5k.

Re: Bilstein Shocks and struts

JFS, thanks for the research and write-up on the Bilsteins! Lots of good info there. I found the prices on Bilstein's website to be similar to what you found. Should be a fun project.
