Re: How is that even possible?

After reading about them being hard coming off, I was surprised to find mine was pretty easy, too. I did use a wrench, but I may not have had to.

I was also missing the magnet on an OEM filter.

Re: Steerin wheel locked?

It's not up and down, it's in and out, like a telescoping wheel. I'm not really sure if it's related or not.

Re: Steerin wheel locked?

Its not the key.... its in good shape. I had two new keys made at the Chevy dealer, last year. One cut to code, and then one copied. It could be the cylinder as the old key was very worn.

Re: Steerin wheel locked?

What would make it take hours if it stopped working? I can't remember if I took it out when I replaced those bolts, or not.

I'm not sure what's wrong with the steering column. I asked about that...

Re: Steerin wheel locked?

It's strange that I had no problem until turning the steering wheel to full lock, but maybe that was a coincidence.

Re: Rear brake caliper bracket bolt spec

I wonder if spraying (while shielding the rotors of course) with Fluidfilm would help prevent that. I sprayed my new bare cast iron drums with it, and they have not rusted yet. I haven't gone...

Re: Rear brake caliper bracket bolt spec

So probably a 35mm would be the best one could hope for with a non-GM bolt, if that's even available.

I didn't realize discs were like that too..... the drums were a pain to get wrenches on...

Re: Running hotter after tune up

They are coated, but I don't think they're galvanized... at least not in the same way which I think of it, being "hot dipped". That's too thick.

Steerin wheel locked?

This morning, after finding the store is open today (It's Thanksgiving today), drove to Meijer's. When parking I cranked the wheel all the way over to the stop because I was trying not to scare some...

Re: Running hotter after tune up

My mileage did that too, but I think I had already replaced that thermostat at that point. Now that it's getting colder again, I need to check the mileage. I've gotten kinda lazy about it lately. ...

Re: Running hotter after tune up

Last I checked, my hoses don't really get hot either. It's been that way since at least when I changed the thermostat last year when it was running too cool. Now the gauge reads normal, and I've...

Re: Running hotter after tune up

At least on my car, the engine RPM actually dips down for a second too when the fan kicks on, at idle. This makes the fan operation noticeable even if you can't hear it over a...

Re: 1997 SW2 can't get new spark plug wires on

The head, not the block.

That's great. I think at least 3 of my plugs had oil around them, when I did mine. It feels really good to get that kind of thing all cleaned up and fixed.

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

Almost hit a deer on the way home from work....Normally I see them off to the side of the road, or in the road but a ways away. This time he was RIGHT THERE, RIGHT NOW. Thankfully, I wasn't going...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

It's a Delta platform car, so I was hoping for lots of parts, but Rockauto did not seem to have a lot for it.

I'd rather not have to do that for a commuter car..... I drive 100 miles a day in...

Re: You broke it! You bought it!

LOL, that's funny. Plenty of farmers have parked vehicles, but I've never heard of the spot to be "functional".

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

There was one for auction locally that I was thinking about bidding on. I passed on it. Several things bothered me.... one, it's not rated for any better than what my SL2 gets, as far as mpg. Only...

Re: Power windows slow?....Try this tip..!

Dot 5 brake fluid is something I never would have thought of.

I really need to shop for a new can of silicone spray. The last stuff I bought is garbage. Whatever the carrier is, it fades...

Re: Driveway Find

You have business cards for buying Saturns???

There was a Saturn that had been sitting for several years near me, and suddenly it disappeared. Every time I drive by I wonder what happened to it.

Re: About to do Valve Cover Gasket

What does that mean?

I bought United's upper-line wire set. The only thing from stopping me buying NGK was the color.... yeah, I know the color doesn't hurt performance, but I thought the...

Maybe I'll give that a shot. My passenger side front.... the one I use most often... is slow.

Re: Hit a tree, condenser damage to 99 SL1

It sounds like you know you have a coolant leak, but it's not obvious where it is. I would guess that it's the radiator since you hit a tree. It's probably a crack in one of the black plastic...
