Re: Oil Pan Sealant Replacement

Resealing the oil pan is simple enough. Removing the exhaust to gain access is the difficult part on the V-6. You must disconnect the oxygen sensors and drop the front section with the small cat...

I subscribe to a British auto repair magazine Car Mechanics . I enjoy all the articles about the Vauxhalls we will never see over here. There are many differences in mechanical terms in the...

Re: High engine fan speed in cold weather...a brief story...

Our 2.2 temp is 180. My needle is rock solid after about 2 miles of operation year round. There is an internal rubber seal in the thermostat that lets coolant flow as it fails irregardless of the...

Re: Mysteriuos power steering leak.

I had a pump that constantly leaked fluid into the engine. The car was clean and dry under the hood. I replaced the pump and the problem was solved.

Re: Decision time - LW200

It is a labor intensive job probably three hours of shop labor plus the tool to hold the balance shaft chain in place. The pump is reasonable and the small seal and gasket kit is inexpensive as well....

Re: Rumble/vibration in drive train.

There are year splits with the engines and car lines unfortunately. The 4t40 is a good transmission. GM used the 2.4L four cylinder in their cars through the 2001 model year in Chevrolet, Olds and...

Re: Wheel Issues and Alignment

I have had tires cause both cars and trucks to pull to one side. Some of our big trucks start to pull over time and cross rotating the steer axle takes it away. I have seen a bad tire pull either...

Re: High engine fan speed in cold weather...a brief story...

The temperature indicated on my temperature gauge is very stable. My car warms up to that temp in the first 1/2 mile unless the heater fan is on medium or above. When using the heater on a freezing...

Re: Spam

I pushed the exclamation point on one of the spam posts. Would reporting them all be any help? Probably not, I usually ignore and move on to what is interesting.

Re: Buzzing noise in throttle body

Both of the codes you have now are transmission codes, the U code is a communication with the tcm code and the P code is the tcm requesting the check engine light.
How much gas is in the car? Maybe...

Re: Buzzing noise in throttle body

This procedure as with some emission monitors will not run if the conditions are not met. The evap monitor will not run at low temps either. Please make sure your car sees 41 degrees before...

What I posted is what I would do not the other ones you found. Our cars are different from most other GM cars. The only other GM car that uses your particular v6 is a Cadillac Catera. I took this...

Re: Buzzing noise in throttle body

There is a throttle relearn that needs to be done per the fsm after an ecm replacement.
I would start there.

Re: High engine fan speed in cold weather...a brief story...

Do you have a code reader? Some codes will set and not turn on the cel until the second occurrence. Last time I had high fans I had a code but no light for engine taking too long to reach operating...

Re: Possible ground issue

On first thought it may be bcm related. How is the odometer working on this car. I have a 2002 manual and there are some changes between the early and late cars.

The codes should guide us to a solution. At least it runs now, that eliminates a lot of components that could be bad.

Re: Idle surge when shift, until normal running temp

I would get the car scanned to see if there are any trouble codes. I have driven stick shift cars all my life but this car is a little different. The rpms hang between gears until you learn how to...
