Thank you, that was it. I was trying to have him fix it over the phone, the black cover was obvious once I saw this. :yes:

Now the mirror is in 2 pieces, but it only comes as an entire assembly...

The mirror came off, the shiny black piece remains on the door & appears to be fused on with some kind of pin.

I may had posted on this years ago, when the LW300 wagon was acquired in 2007, we found the red tail lenses each had a melted spot. Dealer said the lamp socket had been modified to a plastic base...

I've ran vehicles up to 150K without any bearing replacements, These parts are no maintenance & apparently designed to break.... I can see 100K but < 2 years & 10K in this latest instance now... ...
