Re: Passenger Side CV axle C-clip

I believe this is GM 07829495 which isn't available any longer. I've not seen anyone sell them without the axle. J/y may be a good option but honestly I'd probably just try to drive it in. I've had...

Re: Manual to power steering swap? JY SC2 suspension? Straightforward?

Interesting. I know there is power steering with or without variable sensing (we can change it in the tech2 if you switch) but never heard of saturn without any power steering.

Re: Replacing front trailing control arm bushing

I wasnít able to push the control arm down enough to slide the rear bushing off without removing the control arm from the cradle. However I did not need to remove it from the strut assembly.

Re: Car sat for 6 months....precautions before start?

Just like on a thatís been siting boat, turn the engine over by hand before using the starter. If a ring is stuck on a cylinder you want to loosen it softly.

Re: Best way to restore AC function

If you look closely at all the brands youíll notice the exact same manufacture stickers on nearly all of them.

Re: I am running out of gasoline

Buy the lower octane. These cars are not set up to take advantage of higher octane.

Re: Timing or belt tensioner noise

GM even has a bulletin that leaking out the weep hole is normal and you should not replace the pump. Keeps the pumps running until the warranty runs out.

Re: A/C Compressor - Oil or Coolant Leak

You can just give it some gas occasionally when stopped. Problem solved.

I wouldnít make any statements if you are low on refrigerant without seeing gauge values.

Re: Should I be worried?

yes, if the wheel doesn't obstruct your ability to work. Make sure that each side raised as backups so it doesn't fall on you.

Re: Should I be worried?

Yea, never get under a car when its held by a jack. Always have at least one stand and a jack ready to catch it or two stands.

Is there oil in the engine?
Hopefully the connector on the pressure switch is just disconnected.

Re: Should I be worried?

Oil is not affected by the belt. The belt does turn the water pump so hopefully they didnít overheat the engine.

Re: A/C Compressor - Oil or Coolant Leak

Yea a leak. Iím a big fan of fixing it. Some will suggest snake oil sold at the auto parts store but I think that, long term, those sealants do more harm than good.

Iíd start with checking...

Re: 02 SL2 Stalling

No, not cam sensing. Crank sensor.

Intermittent issues are a pain. If you catch it while itís happenjng you could check for short of the crank sensor.

Re: 02 SL2 Stalling

I wonder if you could have a bad crank sensor that only manifests when hot.
Any codes?

Re: ECU and Flashing - 2001 Saturn SL1 Automatic

You donít need the manual switch if the fan comes on jumping the ac. I bet the fan will come on at around 3/4 on the gauge. Thatís how itís programmed.
Oil pan gasket leaks are not common on these...

Re: ECU and Flashing - 2001 Saturn SL1 Automatic

I've never tested this with a broken AC system but that is contrary to what others have reported. If the PCM detects that the A/C pressure is too low it doesn't activate the fan in support of the AC...

Re: ECU and Flashing - 2001 Saturn SL1 Automatic

If you're serious DIY'er you can just buy the Tech 2 set up., Its not nearly as expensive as you'd think and GM has a special pricing to download flash updates for a single VIN ($35 as I recall). ...
