Re: New tensioner assembly, new belt... Still getting p0a92. Help!

You posted that the belt was slipping. We recommended you use an OEM part since it's unique to the GM BAS system. No need to get upset that it didn't fix the problem; using the correct part was the...

Re: New tensioner assembly, new belt... Still getting p0a92. Help!

Agreed; it uses an aramid core belt that is pretty unique; don't think I've ever seen an aftermarket. Probably a dealer-only part.

Re: The last Saturn Astra owner.

Must be that Hoosier hospitality. :) I'm in the same boat as you - only 80k miles but the car has been rock solid, with the exception of the flex pipe that cost me about $60 total. I'm ready for a...

Re: Saturn Recall of Takata Module

Is it just the driver side airbag? I got my letter in March and have promptly ignored it, which I know isn't a good idea. I understand the issue affects those in humid climates to a greater degree,...

Re: Hybird system not working dealer recomends new timing chain?

Good analysis - makes sense. You're right that this is a common problem. I had "light timing chain noise" on mine (confirmed by the tech), which was one of the reasons that prompted us to move on...

Re: Flex pipe

Job done this afternoon. Part was about $15 on ebay and local shop welded it in for $55. Thanks to those who provided links.

Re: Flex pipe

Just hit with this problem this weekend - fired it up after a highway run and it sounded quite a bit more flatulent. Picked one up on ebay for about 15 bucks and I'm not even going to try it myself....

Re: Incredibly Slow Acceleration From a Stop

It's definitely not a rocket, but it sounds like something is wrong. Is the engine light on? If so, can you get the codes read? It's not revving up without accelerating, indicating a trans...

Re: Best Speed to Drive the Astra 5 speed

I've averaged 31-33 mpg year in and year out since I bought the car new in 2009. For highway driving (speed limit withstanding, of course) I set it at 70 mph, which I believe is about 3250 rpm. ...

Re: The Ultimate Tire Replacement thread

I put about 67,000 on the stock Eagle LS2s before giving them up due to such poor performance in the rain. I found a good deal at Discount Tire for closeout Michelin MXM4s. The price was good (plus...

Re: Can a 2007 Vue Green Line tow a teardrop trailer?

Agree with F2G, it's rated to 1500 lbs. There's nothing overly special about this tranny; it's a 4T45-E (same 4-Spd as regular 4-cyl VUE) with an auxiliary pump to provide pressure in auto-stop mode.

Re: Reverse in cold weather - manual transmission

I've definitely had it happen to the glove box latch in cold weather, but not the gearshift, although it's like stirring molasses at those temps. It'll still let you select 1st, right? It just...

Re: Astra bedtime

My Astra has always been fairly crap in the snow. Maybe it's because I still have the original tires on it. The truck was great in the snow, and if someone slid into me, I really didn't...

Re: Astra bedtime

Nice new truck - hope you enjoy the ride. I normally park my Astra for the winter too, but it might be curtains for my poor old beater 4WD truck. Came home the other day dragging a rear shock when...

Re: Just traded in my Astra

Enjoy the new car - I always liked the Focus but never could get used to the transmission in those that I had as rentals. It's a good looking hatchback and definitely has more zip.

By the way,...

Re: May Be Buying 2009 Vue Hybrid

My thoughts - pretty close to the opposite. We put ~140,000 on our 2007 VUE GL. Let's be honest, the resale value on any Saturn VUE is pretty poor. No one buying a 7-year old, 125k mile car should...

Re: lower grille replacement

Yep, just slide the new one in and push the plastic rivets up into the holes from the bottom. Secures the lower valence to the grille.

Ours fell out after taking out some part of a speed limit...

Re: Saturn maintenance costs $12,400 for 10 years

Sorry, but their test metrics just don't pass the reality test. Any list that places Saturn, Mercury, and Pontiac that high relative to Mini and VW is hard to swallow.

I'm sorry, but the...

Moving on from our VUE GL - will be missed!

After more than 9 years and 135,000 miles, we made the decision to replace our VUE GL. The VUE served us admirably and it will be missed. We’ve never owned a vehicle that was less expensive to keep...

Re: Received Air Bag Safety Recall Notice 28810

Yes, got my letter last week too. "Just to inform you, your car could have a dangerous defect. We have no idea when parts will be available. Carry on."

Nice choice on the Cascada! ...

Re: 31 MPG in a V6?

It's one data point; a single tank. It can happen as there are so many variables that affect MPG. Hit on the right side of those variables, and it can happen. I'm sure not all of the OPs tanks...

Re: Received Air Bag Safety Recall Notice 28810

You might be the first to receive an official letter from GM.
