Re: Hub-Centric Musings and Experiments
If you're so confident in the hub bore doing all the centering, remove all of your lug nuts in favor of some regular hex nuts. Then go for a drive.
But take the lug nuts and wrench with you-...

Re: OE or Aftermarket Fender Flares
Google search "flexy flares". It would be a 100% custom install.
I put some on my Explorer in an attempt to keep the tires from flinging mud up into the body. Didn't work all that well, but they...

Yeah, so I've been busy with my Explorer:

Re: Would you buy a used Vue today?
No.
But I really don't like GM cars- old, new or anything in between. My VUE was good while we it- really nothing to complain about. But I wouldn't get another one. It felt cheap. It was loud. It...

Re: Dying for Horsepower!
^agree. Modding a VUE for speed is worthless. Especially with a 4 cylinder. And with a VTI is just plain dumb.
A transmission swap is more involved than you think.
The only way modding a VUE...

Re: Dying for Horsepower!
What did you want us to tell you? Slap on a turbo, crank the boost up to 20 psi with a 300 shot of nitrous? The sad thing is, the engine has a decent shot of taking that power (well maybe not the...

Re: Dying for Horsepower!
Honestly though, best thing is to get rid of it. That VTI is a ticking time bomb. When it blows (notice I didn't say "if"), it'll cost more to fix than it's worth. But seeing how your dad has already...

Re: Dying for Horsepower!
More than likely it has another VTI transmission. Can you feel it shift gears when you accelerate or is it a constant noise/rpm?
Because the bulk of the people who drive VUEs are not concerned...

Re: New Vehicle
I had one as a rental in San Diego last week. Quite frankly, I hated it. It definitely felt like a VUE- the interior felt cheap and the seats sucked. With polarized sunglasses, the entertainment...

Re: Getting ready to fix all the broken stuff.
I put some kind of Red Line fluid in. D4 maybe. I didn't notice any difference afterwards. I switched because it was going to be parked on the driveway during the winter.
Your tie rod method...

Re: Getting ready to fix all the broken stuff.
The MT fluid is "lifetime" but certainly changing it can't hurt. I changed mine early on.
Maybe pull off your drums and take a peek at the wear on the shoes.
Coolant?

Re: Tires
The door sticker was originally 30 psi but then revised to 35 psi after the near rollovers were discovered back in about 2004. There was a campaign to revise the door stickers. Why vehicles produced...

Re: Moving to Florida!
5 years is getting up there for a battery. I'd have it tested at an auto part store. They'll be able to tell you how many cold cranking amps it has and you can compare that to what it's rated for and...

Re: Heated Seats in a Redline w/ Ebony Package
I bought a similar kit when I bought the seat covers from you. I never installed it because I knew I was getting rid of the VUE. I'm planning on installing them in my Explorer instead. It has cloth...

Re: awd ?
I would suspect that the rear RDM is not a limited slip. If the tires are loaded fairly evenly and have the same traction, they will both spin. But if you unload one tire some it will spin- or if one...

Re: Winter Experience
My Explorer gets 15- but that's with 3" of suspension lift, 2" of body lift, 33" tires, 100 lb front bumper, 130 lb rear bumper, and 4.56 gears (3.55 stock).
I don't drive it in the snow unless...

XRL- what kind of tires do you have on?
With my old VUE (2.2L 5 speed)- it was OK. With the factory tires mine was OK. It was never "fun" to go drifting through parking lots or while turning on...

Re: Is My Vue Abnormally Slow??
Seriously? 2 miles? And it takes you 15-20 minutes? You know the average person walks about 3-4 mph. Let's say 3 mph- that's a mile every 20 minutes. If you speed it up and push it to 5 mph, you...
