Re: Brake Line Flush Issue

I just thought of one thing I don't think you mentioned. Did you drill a second hole in the cap of the DIY fluid catcher? There must be a way for air to escape the bottle as you fill it with...

Re: Brake Line Flush Issue

I always leave the DIY bleeder bottle on the ground so it is the lowest point. Once the fluid is being pumped out and all air has been purged from the bleeder hose... it will continue to flow with...

Re: Starting Issues

I routinely have theories that don't work out. It's part of properly diagnosing technical problems. Once ruled out... just move on and drop it like its hot! LOL

Re: Starting Issues

Sitting so long with no lube... everything simply froze into place. If it were me, I'd experiment a bit to see what can be moved with a small hammer and bunch of super lube.

Have you checked to...

Re: Starting Issues

Silly question. Are you spinning the engine in the counter clockwise direction?

If the valves were damaged or snapped off, the springs would still hold the rockers firmly. I can't understand...

Re: Starting Issues

I've never seen a 4 banger guts before. Very interesting!

I'm guess here... I would think if the timing chain was broken, it would be in a pile somewhere in the engine? Some pics show a very...

Re: Sign of a fuel leak?

I've spliced the small hoses several times because they were leaking after we filled up. I really should replace all the rusting lines/hoses. Brakes lines are a priority at this point.

Re: 02 LW200 - Do These Rotors Need to be Replaced?

Wait a minute, Define "Normal" driving!

I read in a 94 Corvette User Manual on how to safely pass other vehicles on page 70 something. It said, "If you are traveling less that 35 mph, then push...

Re: 2001 l300 sedan spark plugs

I have done it 4 times and now I could do it in my sleep. Read my I blew it up summary where I describe the entire process and all the headaches along the way.

Re: 2001 l300 sedan spark plugs

It is intimidating because its a pain in the rss! Getting at the QPaks is not nearly as painful as getting to the valve covers which requires you remove front and back motor lift mounts. There is...

Re: 2001 Saturn L300 - v6 3.0 Liter - Puller Fan

Remove the temperature sensor and put it in a can of boiling water after you start the engine. Will the fans turn ON then? Don't forget to plug the inlet of the temperature sensor before performing...

Re: GM L81 3.0L V6 Engine - Head Gasket Replacement (Questions for DIY)

Test for losing coolant... IF you have to refill the coolant every 7 days... it's a direct indicator you are losing coolant. The car will tell you when it is low. If this happens more than twice...

Re: GM L81 3.0L V6 Engine - Head Gasket Replacement (Questions for DIY)

You don't need a hoist or lift of any kind to remove the heads. However, I wouldn't perform such a task without a garage for shelter.

Before you dive into this possibly unnecessary repair......

Re: 02 LW200 - Do These Rotors Need to be Replaced?

Just avoid hard braking for 300-400 miles and you'll be fine. And, don't do what I just did. Changed rotors and not pads (they were changed recently, but the rotors would not come off), then let...

Re: 02 LW200 - Do These Rotors Need to be Replaced?

Re: 02 LW200 - Do These Rotors Need to be Replaced?

What happens if you don't install new rotors is the brake will pulse as the new pads rub against the old rotor. I've never done it, but you can take the old rotors to a shop and have them...

Re: GM L81 3.0L V6 Engine - Timing Belt Replacement - Any Tips?

The cam locks are used to remove the existing belt. Spin engine until it is at TDC. Verify by sighting the bottom of the crank case pulley mark found at 6 O clock. You must use a mirror. At that...

Re: GM L81 3.0L V6 Engine - Timing Belt Replacement - Any Tips?

One more tip... don't listen to any video which makes claims that if the engine is at TDC... the cams will remain in place. That is BS. All cams will spin to their resting point unless you install...

Re: GM L81 3.0L V6 Engine - Timing Belt Replacement - Any Tips?

Here's a couple tips before you begin this timing belt replacement.

1) The belt marks will only be spot on the first time you install the belt. After you start rotating the engine the actual belt...

Re: GM L81 3.0L V6 Engine - Timing Belt Replacement - Any Tips?

The timing belt kit will have a crank socket with it. I used a jack with a block on wood to support the engine and transmission from underneath. Only one engine mount needs to be removed. There...

Re: GM L81 3.0L V6 Engine - Timing Belt Replacement - Any Tips?

Lots of stuff in this post. First off, the thermostat is not located underneath the timing belt like the water pump is. To get at the thermostat you have to remove everything on top of the...
