Re: Driver's Side Caliper Rubbing Wheel

Just for the heck of it did you reuse the existing hardware or are you using a hardware kit?
I'm not sure in this case if the caliper is a 'floater' but the 2 main bolts should allow movement of the...

A good JY haul - or not??

I expected to pay less than it actually cost me but I think I am still ahead.

A couple of days ago I made a junk yard run to pick up shifter to tranny linkage (5 sp). Upon completing the tranny...

Re: pricing a 95 sw2 wagon 5-speed

Hi Guys. Earlier this year I looked at a 96 SW2 on CL for $300. Had a shifter issue, one key (no FOB), cracked windshield and a pour it in leak it out valve cover gasket. A challenge, plus it needed...

Re: Another shifter cable problem solved

As I have mentioned before guys, the clips are available at your local GM dealer. I picked up a couple of each. IIRC the large ones were about $5 and the smaller clips were around $2-$3. Much easier...

Re: Control Arm: Ball joint thread size for nylon nut

HORSE - a quick question. Did you inspect your sway bar bushings while it was loose from the control arms? I'm having a rattle (like sway bar bushings sound to me) when I first leave my driveway...

Re: Control Arm: Ball joint thread size for nylon nut

I don't see that a washer would hurt anything. A washer would just raise the nut the thickness of the washer. After all, the ball joint is tapered inside of the arm and the threads aren't tapered so...

Re: Control Arm: Ball joint thread size for nylon nut

I think I understand what you are saying. If it were me I would drill another hole the same size as the existing one in the threads just below the existing hole. How much lower would be determined...

Re: new clutch - won"t work!

Ned, I'm with you. What's the answer? Hope we find out soon. As I said, I'm gonna post any findings I come up with. But in the meantime I need time (and cooler weather) to explore.

Think about...

Re: new clutch - won"t work!

Hi guys.

First let me ask - DODO, had any luck yet? Also, did you use the measily low torque value to bolt down your pressure plate? The more I think about it I'm convienced that the pressure...

Re: Can I replace just one brake drum?

Considering the price of brake drums I believe I would replace both.
At least take both drums off and inspect for cracks and discoloration, grooves and possibly warpage in the second drum (may be...

Re: What is your average MPG this year?

My 96 SW2 5 speed is between 34 and 35.5 MPG on average.

I noticed someone in an earlier post said they shifted to 5th gear at around 40-45 mph (post # 33). I guess I am the father of (almost)...

Back to your battery drain for just a moment. I had the battery drain problem similar to what you posted. Turned out to be a defective LOCK / UNLOCK switch on the drivers door. Can't notice it but it...
