Re: So.. how reliable is the 2008/09 Saturn Astra?

That plastic bit in the front suspension seems to be more durable than it looks.

Re: So.. how reliable is the 2008/09 Saturn Astra?

Oil consumption in my case, dealers experimenting on our vehicles resulting in mixed results for what should be minor tweaks and ****. OEM battery dying after 3 years. Parts availability. It's a fine...

Re: Astra Oil Consumption

I go by the INSP. Car's underused. It's an 09 with 76K KM on it. I used synthetic. Mobil 1 or RP. We thought the mech didn't put enough oil the first time (had two gaskets for the filter on and it...

Re: Astra Oil Consumption

First car I've ever owned that's consumed oil is our Astra.

Last check it was edging on unaccptable levels according to GM.

I'm hoping the next one will force them to take it in for warranty...

Re: mp3 player issues

You CAN.

You have to convert the ID3 tags to version 1. The radio isn't compatible with anything beyond that.

Re: Wheel bearing life expectancy

Well, it was done under warranty. I'm completely ok with GM getting screwed.

Re: Factors to consider when buying an Astra

Body parts are mostly an issue because of the logistics involved. It's much easier with small bits and pieces.

Re: Wheel bearing life expectancy

I'd worry more about the hubs than the bearings. Had one replaced by the dealer already. It rusted out and was making the car excessively loud while driving. I never noticed it (noise progressed...

Re: Flex pipe

Are you sure the brake bit isn't 2008-only? I've never had to do it to do the reset. I figured out while toying around with things one day that it was unnecessary... At least for mine.

Re: Factors to consider when buying an Astra

My experience with waiting for anything that wasn't body related has been positive thus far. OEM wiper blades, for instance, can be obtained at any GM dealer here within a day. They get...

Re: FS: 2 sets of 16" rims

Do the 16s fit on 2 door Astras? From what I'm reading, they do.

It's a fair price, even though I live 5 hours away I'd drive down to get the winter tires. I'm short on cash. D: Can I get details...

Re: Bolt pattern and offset of factory wheels

I ended up selling them and got winter tires for my regular 17" rims.

Yokohama Iceguard G20s. Some good stuff, not regretting the purchase one bit.

I think I had the right to be pissed about...

Re: Bolt pattern and offset of factory wheels

I'd just like to point out to everyone that this guy got me to buy the wrong-sized rims/tires last year and that mistake cost 90 bucks (I had to resell them at a loss a year later).

Seriously,...

Re: Can you make the gas pedal more sensitive???

I figured it had to do with the age of the system more than anything else (sorry if I sounded like I was implying that the Versa had no DBW system), but I don't know enough about this to argue.

Re: Can you make the gas pedal more sensitive???

AFAIK this has to do with the fact that it's electronic. There's an inherent lag with those systems, even the newer ones. I'm gonna go and guess you can't adjust throttle response.

Having driven a...
