Will Saturns be classic cars?

My 95 SL2 will be 25 years old next year. Will Saturns be a classic, collectible car? Are the 91-93 cars appreciating in price or considered collectible? Iím the original owner and it was/is my...

Re: Limp Shifter

Unfortunately, I don't know any place I could rent space on an as-needed basis to work on my car. It really only helps if I can actually store tools there safely, or I'd have to schlep everything...

Re: Limp Shifter

Yeah, kills me not to be able to do even simple DIY, but "not allowed" where I live, no alternate way to get to work, yadda yadda yadda. Just talked to the mechanic - he's familiar with the problem....

Re: Limp Shifter

Thanks for taking the time to link the big thread - I found it using search, but it's nice for it to be in this thread too.

At 140.6k miles, my shifter just failed tonight. Probably not related...

Re: Need some feedback!

My thoughts too. Somebody posted pics from his teardown, where he found this, and was surprised it wasn't more common. Well, it's common enough for me, LOL. My clutch slips in 5th while...

Re: '95 SL2. Steering squeeking noises.

Oops, sorry for the double post - thought I was editing!

It seems the airbag coil may be the culprit:

Re: '95 SL2. Steering squeeking noises.

My '95 SL2 has the same squeaking noise, but I've noticed it does not make noise, or very little, during the first 5-10 mins. After that, it's more noticeable. Also makes a little noise when PS is...

Re: Luke's Transmission's 3rd Actuator Replacement Successfull

What a coincidence, I was just talking to a non-Saturn tech about Saturn alternators, and he said he had a customer with a bad alternator causing weird shifting.

Luke, if you don't mind saying,...

Re: A very sad day for me

I'm envious! It will be hard for me to part with my SL2, but when I do, I'll consider a Miata. They look like a perfect "next car" to me!

Re: How many saturn doors have you opened with your key?

My car was stolen last year using a key. I *now* pull the fuel pump relay, which is what I should have done all along
But the worse part of the ordeal is I now feel I cannot leave...

Re: ignition wire/spark plug wire - resistance/ohms

Thanks for the input, I guess I *was* reading the multimeter correctly, LOL. Interesting the FSM has a lower limit of 1.5k - you'd think only an upper limit to resistance is relevant.

One more oil filter part number

Just changed my oil filter with a Champion Labs Champ Encore PH2835

http://www.champlabs.com/Ecore.htm

I searched for the number here, didn't find it, so figured I'd post it. Found it...

ignition wire/spark plug wire - resistance/ohms

Searching forum, I could find acceptable specs for wire resistance - basically what Chilton says, under 12,000 ohms. But what I need help with is reading the multimeter  Googling, I only...

Re: 2nd, 3rd, 4th Actuator replacements successful, but

Yes, standard shift - while climbing the hill, giving gas to maintain speed, revs shot up briefly, much like an automatic's accelerator pedal downshift. The concensus on my thread was clutch...

Re: Dented Exhaust Manifold Headers

I don't have headers, unfortunately, but IIRC, the "dent" is "normal." A picture would be better, but I believe others here have had the same concern - if it's near the mounting flange, it was...

Re: Luke's Transmission's 3rd Actuator Replacement Successfull

Luke, great job working on your transmission as an "amateur!" You're right, cannot thank enough those that provide help here - it may sound wacky to some, but saturnfans is one factor I consider...

Re: spark plug gap

Maybe it was Chilton, but I'd read the wire gap checkers, like Ralli posted, are more precise - even better, include the adjustment tool. Most I've checked out of the box are close, but not perfect...

Re: Car won't start after piston soak

*Finally* got my car started! Initially, a "helper" had told me I was not getting a spark. :snide: But I still had MMO visibly wet in 2 cylinders, so wanted to wait a while before giving it...

Re: Car won't start after piston soak

Forgot to reply to this: no, that's the 1st thing I check before starting the car, but even if it does happen, I think the engine will start, but runs rough and misfires.

Re: Car won't start after piston soak

Thanks, sierrap615 - this is my 1st fuel injected car, 11 yrs old, and before had a 67 Mustang, so I'm not surprised I'd never heard of a noid light. However, I Googled and found this, sound...

Re: Car won't start after piston soak

I *hope* I didn't fry the PCM - the fuses were OK, and fuel pump primes OK. Help me out though, I have no idea how to check fuel injector pulse or what a NOID light is :?:

Re: Actually reading Coolant Fluid Temperature

I thought condensation forms when the ambient air temp drops below the dew point, which is related to relative humidity?

Doesn't antifreeze absorb heat, making it cooler than ambient, or does it...

Re: 1993 Sl2 Ignition Key Stuck

Try jiggling the steering wheel, as well as pushing the key in, as you turn the key. This usually frees it up for me.

Re: Is Fuel Filter Replacement on 95SL2 Hard?

Although replacement should not take much strength or patience, the fact fuel gets all over is enough that I've always let the dealer replace it - not much labor fees every 60k miles. I just hate...
