Re: My Saturn days are nearing their end, what to do with her?

I'd go with poor as well, between the paint job looking like crap and the windshield needing to be replaced (at least a $200 job) it's not currently in fair condition. Even the interior isn't in fair...

Re: Power distribution block

You put that much effort into making battery cables and didn't upgrade to a top post battery?
Sure, it'd have added around $100 to the projects cost but you wouldn't have a shop complaining about...

Re: 2001 Saturn SL2 - sunroof does not work at all

If it's like 1st and 2nd gens you can take the map lights out and see the connector to the motor as well as replace it if needed. Use a DMM to check for power (you'll have to reconnect the map lights...

Re: Cold Start Low Idle...Fuel Mixture Problems?

The FPR is vacuum operated, if the lines aren't new the rubber connectors could be leaking enough when everything's cold to create a fuel issue.

What's the TPS sa....right OBDI doesn't give easy...

Re: Is my SC2 immobilized?

Think programming is gone over in the owners manual but I don't feel like digging mine out to find out for sure, since Wolfman made a great post on programming '96-'99 Security:...

Re: help me help this idiot please

Cheapest route if you have a welder is a 4G63 manifold, turbo and probably downpipe. Need to cut the ears off on the manifold and weld 'em in to make it flat like the LLO manifold, then it just bolts...

Re: Automatic transmission lifespan expectations

The SW2 I had took 9 years to get to 46k miles ('97-'06) so it did do a ton of sitting. '06-'13 it went from 46k miles to 114k miles, so less sitting. Wasn't my best deal on a S-Series, had to pay...

Re: Automatic transmission lifespan expectations

I bought a '97 SW2 once. Dealer replaced the transmission at 22k miles, put in a reman unit (according to the paperwork cost over $4000 installed). It had another 90k put on it when I got it (114k...

Re: 9011/9012 headlight bulbs for our cars

9011 and 9012 are single filament right? You can only put 1 bulb in each housing, so you'd be stuck with either only low beam or only high beam unless you modified the nose between the pop-ups to...

Re: 9011/9012 headlight bulbs for our cars

What? :dizzy: '91-'92 SC and '93-'96 SC2 have pop-up headlights and use H4666 4x6 sealed beam bulbs. '93-'96 SC1's use 9005/9006's which might be making you confused just like the parts stores that...

Re: 02 SL intake

The '95-'02 SOHC's use the same intake's as '91-'99 DOHC's. No off the shelf CAI system has been made for those with automatic transmissions, the filter gets in the way of the easy/simple routing.

Re: exhaust manifold on 1996 saturn sw2 dohc

While any '91-'98 DOHC manifold will bolt onto any '91-'98 DOHC, the down-pipes change between Federal Emissions and California; '91-'92 are an upgrade for '93-'98's and unique to '91-'92 unless it's...

Re: Low pedal after replacing rear brake lines.

Stick a socket on the bleeder rather than a wrench. Don't be afraid of the torch either (don't go nuts with it but don't not use it). Don't go in 1 direction, use a "bar" so you can kinda wack it...

Re: ECT sensor with resin tip

ECTS (2-wire/lower for '91-'95), IATS and TTS (automatic trans only) are the same (interchangeable) part. Easiest to get to that's nearly guaranteed to be resin is the IATS as mentioned.

Re: adding map light/overhead console and LED lights

I added a rear view mirror with map lights to a couple of my S-Series, just tapped into the orange wire and black wire. Used black shrink tubing to organize & sorta hide the wires coming up from the...

Re: Windshield Wiper Mechanism Adjustment

Get some loctite or other thread locker
Disconnect the nut, pop it out of the linkage and run the motor 1x (so it's at the "home" position and doesn't strip the splines more)
Set the wipers where...

Re: Saturn S-series engine fan question

Provided virtually no idling (traffic jam/lights) it'll be fine. The fan won't come on at highway speed anyway and heavy used of the interior fan generally does a great job of cooling off the coolant...

Re: How to make S-series quieter?

Newer cars use thicker metal and (at least with my '02 Outback) every under-belt-line panel is backed with sound deadening piece's.

I tried doubling up on the carpet padding on my '96 SC2 (had 2,...

Re: fog lights for 1994 SL2

My Outback use's 9006's for fog lights, it's setup dumps 80% of the light within 3ft of the front bumper, but does so all around the car (unlike the S-Series lights that act more like a DRIVING light...

Re: calipers for S series

If the caliper piston doesn't move when pried on (pressed in), the caliper is bad.
If the caliper doesn't slide with it's pins inside the bracket, the pins and/or bracket need to be cleaned up and...
